Default Stubborness

Got a problem. Have a friend who yesterday totalled his second bike doing his dumb stunting ****. After breaking his ankle and a butt load of road rash in the first wreck and now yet another trip to the hospital he is already looking at a replacement. Don't know how to stop him or at least get it in his head not to do this dumb **** anymore cause he will run out of luck one time and get killed or be a vegetable the rest of his life just dont want to possibly lose a friend or feel sorry for him that he is paralyzed or some ****. What to do?

Tell him that you don't want to be a vegetable's friend. Either he smarts up and quits the dumb **** or you guys end the friendship.

Wouldn't that be kinda shallow that would be like saying that handicapped people are below me and what not. He's cocky enough that he wouldn't care if I gave that option

i don't know if i'd threaten the friendship to try and get him to stop being such a dumbass, but i would express to him that his actions aren't necessarily good for him, and that i value his friendship and don't want to lose him just because he likes to do stupid stunts.

Unless your friend wants to make a change, it is not going to happen... Hopefully he will wise up, and make some changes to what he does. Don't get me wrong, I am not a "stunter" but, a hobby is a hobby; that is to say if it makes him happy, let him do it. One day he will either loose it badly (hopefully not) or he will grow out of this hobby and into another. Best of luck to both of you, and be sure to encourage safe behavior when he goes out (i.e. that he wears his gear, and stunts in less travled areas).

But isn't a hobby something that one is usually good at. This is a losing battle if he wants to jepordize his body and waste his money i guess thats his perogative i jsut hope that insurance compaines will deny him cause his current company will no doubt drop him they paid him 7800 for his last bike I have no idea what they will shell out for this one. That and I hope he doesn't step up to a 750 cause he has been lookin at those for a while.

sadly, some people have to learn the hard way. let's just hope it's not too hard in his case.

there comes a point where there's only so much you can say to another person. i would just avoid riding with him and try not to be party to his quest to die.
