iv got this humming noise as soon as i turn my lights on and then when the fans kick in the humming gets even greater. for some reason i thought it was my water pump, but until i discovered that this sound seems to be a function of my lights or something electrical, im thinking its my alternator...any ideas?

 

it probaly is cause when u turn on the lights or the fan kicks on it puts aload on ur alternator. To make sure u can get a long screw driver and put it on the casing and put ur ear to the handle end of the screw and listen while some one else turns on your lights and off with engine running. You should be able to hear the difference if the sound is coming from the alternator
