I know... but there are different types. The color differentiates them as far as I know. I think the green type is used for automotive painting and masking. Thats why I was asking if there was a difference in the glue strength. Just like the blue is weaker than the beige... but they are both masking tape...

Haha no I was actually curious

Did a little research check it out

green

blue
http://paint-and-supplies.hard....aspx

seems like the green is weaker. haha well this got off topic anyway the blue wont give you any trouble.

Any documentation on the color strengths?

I have always used blue painters tape, as well as most other autocrossers. It seems to come in the widest sizes (for ease of application). Every time I come across the light green/purple colors, they seem to be only 1" wide

The green might be TOO weak... and not hold up to wind and all. I dont know though since I have no experience.

here is a sight that sells a TON of different tapes with all types of colors Zoops... check it out.

Good point, I do remember it being pretty thin..

but to the OP, I used Scotch blue painters tape on the front end of my Si many, many times. Never did any harm to my paint whatsoever. When you're traveling to a HT meet, for example, it's much easier to get there and rip off some tape, rather than find a car wash bay and start scrubbing bugs off

If you're going to do the front bumper, do the mirrors, first 1/4th of the hood, and edges of the fenders as well, as those tend to get lots of highway rock chips also

Nah man, the green works fine....Here is my car taped up for my drive from AL to my house in DC...This is somewhere in SC- it held great for 800+ miles

Go green if you want, its cheaper and it comes in like huge sizes that cover up more space

Because I started out with blue tape on the fenders...then ran out, so I went and bought green because it was cheaper...
It's also on the mirrors, and I drew a little happy face, and "Hi" backwards on the other one

painters tape, is made for paint obviously. so your safe with that, i also think the blue 3m tape is automotive painters tape, but i only saw it thinner, i might be wrong though, see if they sell the green tape in wider and your safe with that
