Another Rex won't start.
Oh here's the story to this one. About two weeks ago a guy on my hall came to me with a dead CRX stuck in a mall parking lot. So Me and my friend started looking into it. Since then he bought a new car and we have come into possession of this one. While checking over the car, we have found that the car gets spark and fuel. It used to crank, but since the battery died last night, it won't even crank now at all, (yes we replaced the battery). When we try to start the car we get nothing at all. When we jump the starter it sparks and then spins like it should, but when we try to start the car we get nothing.
After talking with the previous owner, we found that it has a new motor, put in by his brother (not sure what kind of motor and not sure where to find that on the block itself). We also found that he's had this problem once before with it not starting, but it turned out to be just a loose wire.
Any suggestions as to what we should look for/check/do? Thanks

Do the lights on the dash come on when the key is turned? If not I would suspect the main fusible link. As far as the engine not catching, you need spark at the proper time (check timing and distributor rotor).
im having such a problem with my 89 hatch with a 199 d16y7 turbo.... i didnt touch nothing and the car wont even crank.. checked grounds and power and fuse's etc nothing. i didnt touch nothing other then i replaced the fuel rail and fuel filter and lines.. did u guys solve the problem? if so hit me up and tell me what u did. .thanks
we've got spark. what we don't have is crank. I believe it's the alternator. as soon as we get it out we will get it checked. we're getting that and the starter tested as soon as we get them out. it's not a fuse. we've checked the fuses.
no crank? try jumping your starter. if you don't get a crank that way, then you're starter is most likely dead.

yea, if your alternator is completely shot, you have no way of regulating what power goes where, so you can't charge your battery which won't allow you to start the car. In other words, if your alternator is dead, your draining your battery when you try to start it, and you get to the point where you have no juice to even crank the starter there fore needing to replace the alternator.
Update, the alternator bolt is being absolutely gay and we can't get it out, there fore we can't get the stupid alternator out.
but we just received new info about the car. it happened to die while he was driving, which is another clear sign the alternator died on him.
