my crx broke down and will not start
i have had a zc in my crx for 5 months and have never had a problem. the other day i was driving down from bandimere speedway for the highschool drags. as i got off the highway i turned down a side street and my crx died. i pulled over and tried to start it again.......nothin. i found this really wierd because my zc usually starts right up. all the zc does is crank, but it will not start. i am showing no codes and have no clue what could be wrong. i worked on it all day yesterday and replaced the ignitor, coil, and battery. tried to start it again and all it did was crank. does anyone know what else i should check or replace. how in the hell can i find out what is wrong.
it is not getting any spark, but i smell all kinds of fuel in the cylinders when i crank it. someone said it could be the main relay. what does the main relay do and how can i find out if it is bad.
Timing Belt?
That's what my D16A6 did when my T-belt broke... it just died, not codes or anything, just died on the freeway... I was planning to get it changed too

beleive it or not as long as i have worked on these i have only had a problem once with one.it was on a 89 teg.behind your fuse box on the wall .ther are a few of them in a row bolted to the side.its kinda hard to explain.it says main relay on it.its a black box like 3 inches long 2 high and 1 1/2 width with a big plug.do you have a manual?
i would think timming belt befor the main relay.take off the cover and look,is everything at top dead center?that will tell you! when your cranking it if it is the timming belt it will sound funny,it wont sound normal.it cranks faster.

hopefully you werent on the gas hard. it sounds like timing belt. you are getting spark though rght? If you are, not the dizzy..
It should be either ignition coil or the module, happened to my brother a couple of times. Borrow a friend's distributor and see if it starts up first.
my friend and i are having the same type of problem checked timing belt..coil. it just made a loud pop when it died.??

that pop is most likely fuel exploding in the exahust system rather than in the combustion chamber. ur prob is almost surely dist. related.
my timing is good except for the distributor side. i not sure if it is advanced or retard. i do have a 88-89 integra manual and a 88-91 crx si manual. how can i know if my main relay is out.
we have gone though the dist. repalced the roter because it was mealted to teh rod which caused it to not turn true and eat throught two points. repalced cap also , and even tryed my coil out of my car an still nothing..
the same thing happened to me out in the deep woods doing some sliding on dirt roads, and it ended up being that the rotor had fallen off inside the distributor. we screwed it back in, and it has ran fine ever since. i have a d15, so it may be something different.
my crx is still parked (dead) at my friends house. i checked my timing and it is all perfect. my main relay must work because i can hear my fuel injectors when i turn the ignition on. i am getting no codes and no spark. what else could it be?
i just remembered that a while back my friend had a problem with a 88 teg.i went through the same thing,well for one i had to many beers.any way no spark,after doing everything we could do i said take off the distrib cap.well he turned it over and guess what,the cam had broke.cam gear turned with the timming belt but the rotor did not.this might be going to far but this is what the problem was on his teg.

here is what i did today to my crx with no luck: changed ignitor and coil, checked all wires, measured ohm's on distributor. i still have no spark whatsoever. after 4 hours of work i decided that i was getting no where. i got it towed back to my house and in my garage. now i am gonna look for a 88-89 teg. distributor. i hope i will find out what is wrong soon.
are you not getting spark at the distributor, or plugs. when my coil went out, after tryin to crank so much with no spark all the gas fouled out the spark plugs, and so no spark...try cleaning the points on the inside of the distributor cap where the rotor touches, try replacing the rotor and plugs, rotor= maybe $10. good luck SOMEBODY HELP ME WITH MY WIRING!!!!!! topic- 88dx crx to 95 sohc vtec wirings problem....something like that...
i was also thinking that it could be a ground wire. does anyone know what the wires are that attach on to the rear of the engine block. The three wires are right above the oil filter. also, how can i test my alternator to make sure it is good?
