Default '94 Accord F22 => H22 Swap Problem

I'm doing a swap on my son's Accord and need to know where I can get the mount kit for the H22 to fit into the '94 Accord EX (5-Speed Manual). I understand that there's a height problem with one. I saw where HASport sells a kit, but they don't list the Accord and it costs almost as much as the engine. Any suggestions?

I'm trying to pull this swap this weekend so I really need a quick fix, if one exists.

Thanks

go to the Accord FAQ (stickied at the top) and scroll down to the swaps section. I do believe the H22 swap into the 5th Gen will explain what modification is needed to be made to the driver side mount to make it work.

Sorry about the post-before-search. I was a bit panicy this morning. I saw that and it looks like all I have to do is grind on the two ends of a sleeve. What's all the hubbubb about? They make mount kits and talk about cutting and welding. Is there some trick I've missed that makes this a necessity for the best solution? It sounds like a grinding wheel is the way to go (not to mention the savings in cost over custom parts).

no problem, just keep in mind for the next time

the deal with the new mounts that ESP is making, they are a more rigid mount. If the car is stock and doesn't have some big power adders like turbo or something then the stock/modified mounts and maybe even mount inserts should be just fine.

Thanks for the help, but my son already did the purchasing. The engine hasn't even shown up yet, so I hope all the other parts are here; we're getting seriously behind the time curve.

Is this a swap that we can expect to be easy in terms of startup and use afterward? Or does it take tuning and tweeking to make it run? I'm hoping we can tighten the last bolt and drive it away, but I've seen very few jobs like that.

As long as everything is hooked up properly you will be fine. Take your time, remember to check all your grounds and you should not have any incident.

Good luck!

you dont need the hasport kit....you can use the accord or prelude motor mounts. if you use the prelude mounts you have to modify the driverside mount just a little. the dist is tricky but im sure you can figure the coil situation out.

no need to spend all of that money on the mounts. mine have been in for 3 years and have had no probs

There was reference to changing the fuel rail because the feed was supposed to be on the wrong side. I looked at the engine that just came and it looks correct. Also, it looks like I can swap ends with the Accord fuel hose (between rail and filter) and it might fit (not sure about length yet). Does this sound right?

I'm not sure what headaches await since the A/C compressor looks different, and some of the wiring got yanked out in shipping. It doesn't look as straightforward as it sounds, but it might fall into place as I go.

What coil issue? I haven't gotten there yet.

as far as the fuel line goes you can use the accord's. just turn it upside down on the fuel rail then you dont have to worry about the tabs that are on it. use the accord a/c. the accord is external coil while the h22 is internal so you will need to figure out if you want to stay external or if you want to convert it over to internal (i suggest converting it to internal)

Oh, I see now (my son did the distributor removal yesterday while I was at work). I also (finally) found that I move the A/C bracket from the Accord over to the H22.

Regarding the fuel hose, I feel better about swapping ends with it because it looks like the clip wants to hit the rail (it might not cause any trouble, but it's pretty close and will miss completely if it's on the filter side) but I take it you haven't had any problems. My son almost bought a new rail because someone told him he needed one.

I'm hoping as well that the PS pump (or at least the pulley) from the Accord will work. The shipper whacked it and put a good ding/bend in it. I'm also hoping that I find a home for all the ripped-loose wiring and vacuum hoses. It should be fun.

I appreciate your help and patience.

when you get to the vaccume hoses take some pictures...a lot ot them you wont even need. ive got very few hoses running around that thing.

ya no need for the aftermarket fuel rail. yup and use the accord ac and bracket.

I ended up getting a JDM H22 fuel rail when I did my H23 head swap, because the Accord rail didn't work.
