The main point of this post? To see if having retrofitted HIDs will help make turning easier at night for those of us who have dark tinted windows. On an un-lit street even with untinted windows it can be somewhat dangerous making a turn at night as there might be pedestrians crossing the street and our long, slanted pillar (A pillar? C pillar) obstructs our view especially in the dark.


This looks more like 20 degrees now that I look at it...

I have the stock lights--with upgraded bulbs. I have the Ultra's right now which are quite a bit better than stock, and they're modified 9006's (or 9005--whichever are the high beam bulbs) to fit in the regular headlight socket.

I've tried the SilverStar Ultra 2's as well, but they burned out in 2-3 months. They were a lot whiter and brighter, and possibly a little WIDER peripheral vision than stock headlights.

What I remember from my rx-8's HIDs (which I completely took for granted) was that I had great peripheral vision....

How is your guys' retrofitted HIDs' peripheral illumination? Caveman74's? Customlightz'? I guess my main question is, is your peripheral night vision SIGNIFICANTLY BETTER than with stock halogen bulbs or upgraded bulbs?

I hope retrofitted HIDs can BRIGHTLY illuminate at least 30-40 degrees to either side...

THE REASON why this is important to me and possibly other people is because a lot of us have dark tints... I have 22% and it's kinda hard to see out the side of my car while I'm making a turn.

P.S. anyone wanna stick up for me to the big bad Type X, and support me in getting my signature and nicknames back?

yes.. I've gotten the back fixed. now I should have the $ to pay the $500 deductible for the front soon. but HIDs will be in the near future after that.

I'm also working on something that could fix my $ problems $$ignificantly! :D :D :D Can't talk about it yet

wow, i'm not complaining about a ding or scratch on my car...It's a safety concern as well as possible motivation for others who are on the fence about getting HIDs or not.

It wasn't a safety concern when you got your cool killer tint job was it? You didnt think about how it would effect your view at night. If you were that concerned about safety you would have never gotten it done in the first place.

 

...ok. if you read my post, you'll notice I said even without tints it's sometimes difficult to see at night when making turns with the stock headlights..

and 22% is not nearly as dark as, say, 5%.

to the OP: i think they are definitaely a lot wider than halogens, but also depends on the projector that you use too. i.e. S2000 has a wider view i guess than the TSX.

but i've personally noticed with the fogs on, it's even more wide(r) than the HIDs
