New Si Killer's?
Well i just wanted to infrom you guys about this. I click the searched button a million times so you guys cant get on me. Dont get me wrong. I love my Si to death but i noticed this topic hasnt been brought up. I work at nissan and i saw this. Cheack it out. Im not a fan of these cars but hey. I hear people talking about the new Si or Civic killers or whatever. Now the spec V joins the list of many.
Last time i checked it was going to put out 200 hp and 180 Torque. Its going to be around 20k or 22k i belive. I just thought i would run this by my fellow Honda-Techer's

I find it a little weird to have the reverse gear to be the first gear instead of the usual last gear. I would get confused as hell if I bought that thing (at least until I got used to it).

Personally, I find the looks of the car butt ugly. I also don't like the look of the interior. It looks cheap to me.
I don't buy a car just because of it's numbers. I need to like the look and feel. Now if Nissan had made the look a little more sporty and kicked up the interior a notch or two, then I could see myself buying that over the SI. Specially since Nissan and Honda are close in reliability.
However, if Nissan had made it look more sporty and kicked up the interior a couple notches, they would probably being selling it for closer to $30K.
Just my opinion.

i just wanted to inform you something as well. that car may be one of the hugest hunks of **** in production, just like the old SPEC-V's. My neighbor is on engine #4...i WOULD NEVER TOUCH THAT JUNK.

Seen one this year @ the autoshow and I must say.....dont like the look @ the thing @ all. It looks like the passenger cabin is way to tall for the rest of the body.
Would like to see one of the big magazines do a head to head with an Si to compare them though.

LOL. I agree. Just it would be nice to silence the critics because from what I read, Nissan is making the SE-R out to be this rocket.......

Man, and I thought the new SI had some style issues....That thing is downright ugly, but 180 ft.lbs of tourqe is pretty incredible, would love to drive one to see how well it performs.
I honestly dont think it looks too bad but Nissan is pretty good at doing big things with small cars so we'll just have to see what happens. $5 says Sport Compact Car does a test with the Si, GTI and the SE-R

I'll never forget a quote about the first gen spec-v's (i think it was from car and driver): It read:
"It's like the ride and handling people got into a fight and everybody lost."
haha and i also like the fact that they put that oil guage right where you can see it... LOL, what a pile.

Lets see:
Massive Torque Steer
Poor Engine Reliability
Donkey-cart Torsion Beam Rear Suspension
5" of wheel travel (not lowered)
Horrible Resale
Crappy Interior Fabric Durability
No thanks.

i owned a Sunburst yellow 2003 Spec-V, it was an awesome car, for the simple fact that I was 18 and it was brand new, and tooled on the typical integra ls and sohc civics in the area. It was also considerably faster than my friends 00 Si, and much slower than anothers Type-R swapped hatch. 3 years later I bought my Si, and man looking back the Spec-V was a P.O.S. The civic has a MUCH better build quality, comfort, and reliability. I was just biased becuase I was younger and a little less experianced then. But I dont think i would ever buy one again, unless they did some VERY drastic changes. Interior looks cheap, ext too bulky, and the front end is straight off a CTS.
Give it just a short time and Car&Driver or Road&Track will put the Si sedan and the Spec-V head or head, or add in another car or two.
