HFP suspension with 18" wheels on an 07 Si
I am getting an Si in the next week or so. I would like 18" wheels, mostly because they look great, but I'm also concerned with performance.
I have a few questions about the setup outlined in the title of this thread:
1) Is the HFP suspension a great choice for performance and a subtle drop? What other brands/prices should I look at that are good performance and offer a small drop?
2) Will the drop a HFP suspension gives be too much if I am running 18" wheels?
3) What offset do I need to look for in wheels to match stock wheels, and have them flush with the body line?
4) Are HFP 18" wheels worth it considering all the other options available?
5) How can you tell the difference between a "bling" wheel and a "performance" wheel? i.e. I get a great deal on any wheels from http://www.mhtwheels.com - but I think most are just to look bling and could be heavy and not any good performance wise. What do you think?
Thanks everyone

Well you shouldnt have any problems with the 18's and hfp susp, i dont think honda would offer both of them together if there would be issues.

Yes.
2) Will the drop a HFP suspension gives be too much if I am running 18" wheels?
Depends on offset, width of wheel and tire size but considering the HFP suspension offers a minimal drop I think you'll be fine with basically any 18" wheel
3) What offset do I need to look for in wheels to match stock wheels, and have them flush with the body line?
An offset thats close to stock...?
4) Are HFP 18" wheels worth it considering all the other options available?
Comes down to personal preference. If you like the HFP's then get them, they are great wheels.
5) How can you tell the difference between a "bling" wheel and a "performance" wheel?
Not to sound lame but you can basically designate between performance and "show" wheels by the brand name. IE Rays, RSZR's, spoon, etc are all performance oriented, forged, lightweight wheels. Where as RO_JA, american racing, etc are cast, heavy, "show wheels"

Yes.

Yes, and the Eibach Pro Kit and Tein H-Techs offer similar drops, but if you are only dropping an inch, I'd go with HFP anyway.

No, 18"s will fit fine. 235 series tires would definitely fit, and probably running a 245 would be ok too. If you are using anything bigger than that, I'd have to question your wheel judgement.
3) What offset do I need to look for in wheels to match stock wheels, and have them flush with the body line?
+45 is the stock offset.
4) Are HFP 18" wheels worth it considering all the other options available?
It all comes down to personal decision really, this is for you to decide.

Check out http://www.wheelweights.net and see if they have your wheel listed there. You really just gotta get to know the brands here. You got dirt cheap brands like "Drag" and "SportMaxx", then your moderately acceptable brands like "Enkei" and "Konig", then your "I'm so baller" brands like "Volk" and "Work", among others.
Thanks everyone</TD></TR></TABLE>
