If you're just cruising around the street, who cares if you grab for 7th sometimes. A gear indicator is only useful for track riding or spirited canyon carving and even then its not that useful, just count out your gears aloud in your lid or in your head, works fine for me.

even with a gear indicator on my bike, i find myself going for 7th alot of the time.

It only helps when you're at a stop and need to downshift 5 gears in .5 seconds b/c you forgot, and then the tranny starts to be difficult and you're stuck in 4th gear at the light, rocking the bike back and forth trying to get into 1st...

Not for me personally, but I've never heard of anyone complaining about any one particular model.

It's whatever you think looks best.

My bike has it built into the gauge cluster stock, and it was made 22 years ago

You don't, its just for the lazy and it adds that "cool" factor. Completely unnecessary for the street.

Definitely not worth the money and hassle of installation.

Gear indicators are pretty pointless in my mind.
I'll admit I always tend to go to the higher gear especially on long highway trips, BUT looking at the rpm, I know which gear I should be at especially when entering turns, etc.

i'm always looking for 7th gear, but only when i'm going faster than freeway speeds, because i don't know the rpms for those speeds. Otherwise i can look at speed and rpm and figure out what gear i'm in.
I want this one gear indicator that's also a TRE. Completely plug-and-play.

Can you give me a link to the gear indicator you are talking about?
