Default New Wheels on my SI!!!! And I'm almost positive that you'll love em...

Okay so my Rays wheels finally came in on Friday, so you know I got them mounted first thing Saturday morning. The wheels are 18 x 8.5 +45, wrapped in 225/40/18 Nitto Neo Gens and I have no rubbing issues whatsoever. I plan on dropping it on Eibach Sportlines in the near future, we'll see how that goes. Well enough small talk, here's the pics you wanna see:

Btw, the wheels are Rays Engineering Gram Light 57Fs, custom powdercoated in the blue "time attack" coloring.

Oh and I apologize for the quality of these pictures because my digital camera is about 7 years old, which is ancient by technology standards.

Total Bill:

Gram Light 57F Wheels = $999
Custom Blue "Time Attack" Powdercoating = $300
Nitto Neo Gens = $416 (Discounttire.com FTW)
Blue Open-Ended Muteki Lugs = $31
Mounting + Balancing = $120

Total Price = $1866, but worth every penny.

Let me know what you guys think! (Besides that I need to lower it, cuz believe me, I know)

Yeah I actually was going to ask that it be cleaned up, you must have read my mind.

Anyways, what's YOUR opinion on these wheels? As a fellow FBP driver, and accredited "wheel *****", I'd like to hear what you have to say.

Honestly... i had planned on doing this a while back with the bronze te37's when the time attacks were released but the problem with powdercoating was/is that you can't get the EXACT blue of the car.
The place that did my te's now can do it but its powder with paint over it.

I think they look good but I need to see it with

1. A drop
2. Pix that aren't from a camera phone
3. 1&2

Yup, the drop is coming ASAP, hopefully no more than 2-3 weeks, maybe a month AT MOST (Car Show June 8th that I gotta make). The pics are from my busted *** digital camera from 7 years ago, not even a camera phone lol.

You're right though, pictures don't do these wheels justice. The blue isn't exact, but you can't tell unless you get right up close to the wheel and the sun reflects off it just right. Its about as close as I could hope for.

Well see, the rims aren't painted, they are powdercoated. There are infinitely more colors available in paint, but only a limited amount of colors available in powdercoating. At least this is how it was explained to me. You don't want to just "paint" the color on the wheel, because of the durability issues.

Oh and anyone know good tips for cleaning these wheels? Any good products or techniques? They accumulate brake dust so fast its insane

it looks clean. i always wondered how it would look with blue/black on a fiji instead of the reg. TA colors. other than the headlights and tinted tail lights, imo

There are only a few shops that can paint a wheel OEM quality ...and have it last .
The rest are no talent hacks.

If your going to allow picture posts in the "Tech" forum then people are going to voice their opinion good or bad. There was no need to delete my post along with a few others who did not care for the look of the car but made criticism remarks in a respectful way.

The mods needs to be unbiased to what is and isn't allowed and stand by every rule not make exceptions and get trigger happy editing posts.

Umm no.

Nothing was biased... it was a "clean sweep"

Not users calling other people calling members derogatory racial slurs... then creating OTHER usernames with racial slurs in them...none of that is related to the cars right?
Unless the models of civic are race related.

Thanks.

Congrats on the new wheels.

Is it me, or do the tires look a little small for the rims (width)?

Prolly a stupid question, but is it possible to paint the rim Fiji Blue, and then powdercoat it with a clear coat so that you have the right color and the right protection?
