Default Wing Removal Help

1st - Yes I've read all the searches on "wing removal."

2nd - I've got a Mugen wing that's coming off the car. I purchased my ITR with it mounted so "I'm assuming" it's the Mugen supplied double sided tape.

3rd - I tried removing the wing today via the "dental floss" trick. It was 80+ deg. outside so it should have been warm-hot. Single floss, double floss, regular & glide were tried, double sewing tread was tried too. All just shredded after 1-2 sawing motions.

4th - Anyone got any other ideas? Would fishing line scratch the paint?

Edit: Stop IM'ing me...the wing is already commited to someone

Sorry, I'm not much help on this one.

Maybe some mild solvent, or something like bayby oil?

I'd say some 20 lb test fishing line should do it. Just force the line up, into the wing, not down on the paint.

I'm not sure, but doesn't the wing bolt on as well. I'm pretty sure the Gen 1 wing does and I know the Gen 2 replica does and would assume the same for the authentic.

Ignore this comment if you already took off the hatch plastic and unbolted it.

It does bolt thru the OEM wing holes - 2 bolts each side. No plastic removal needed. That was done before I attempted the dental floss trick.

I used some fishing line on mine, as Dave_B suggested. I also found that some WD-40 sprayed beneath the base of the wing and onto the fishing line helped the process along.

Use a guitar string if you have one to cut through the double sided tape and it will come right out. The guitar strings works better than fishing line but the fishing line will do if that is all you got.
