Front upper control arms

Is the link between the bushings neccesary??

Any other function to it then aligning the bolts together to ease the installation??

Necessary, I would say no because I know the OEM ones don't have them.

I am changing bushings on the control arms and these stupid links are in my way. Need to know before I put them back ...
