I've been beating on the car lately to do run really fast during lunch at work, but i wanna know if anyone knows what would cause my car to want to shut off on stop lights and basically anytime i stop, sometimes i have to throw the car on neutral and hit the gas so it doesnt shut off, can anyone help me, BTW the car is a 96 civic with a D16y7 100% stock auto Trans

Sounds like too low of an idle. Are you getting any CEL's?

Could be a number of things honestly. Any other symptoms, any CELs?

got a cel... and its p0141, heater core, which is from second O2 sensor, so i atleast know it has nothing to do with the air and gas mix, and my idle feels low, but if the car actually does turn off, i turn it right back on and idles good, then i run it, and when i stop it shakes

Wait, did you mean to say you think the second O2 sensor has nothing to do with the air\fuel mix?

It has to do with the Air\Fuel mix, lol. OBD2 motors use 2 sensors, and when one goes bad, espeicially the second one, stuff starts acting up. Replace it, get your idle raised, and you should be set.

well first of all the fron O2 sensor (precat) is used to A/F ratio control. the 2nd O2 sensor (aftcat) its used for monitoring the efficiency of the catilitic converter... when testing it when the engine is warm there should be very little to no fluctuation in the volt reading and should read about .1 volts if i am not mistaken... the 2nd o2 sensor really has nothing to do with the AF as much as it does the catalyst efficiency ... it sounds to me like a low idle or a vacuum leak.... check your MAP sensor.. you pulled a actual code and not a flash code so im assuming you have a scanner.. if so monitor the MAP at idle and then what it jumps to at WOT. make sure to have good vacuum and while your at it check your idle RPM at idle... it should be around 750rpm... or just try turning up the idle screw and see if the "shaking" stops.. just my .02 tho

WOT is Wide open trottle right? well i might have a problem with the vacuum... i did a WOT while cleaning the intake mani mouth, and i got a jumping idle, then i left it alone for a few days, and it went back to normal, so aint doing that again, and about the vacuum leak, how can i test that? i dont have a tester, i went to Advanced auto parts, they did it for free

Your IAC just needs to be cleaned out, it builds up crud and dust on it after awhile, and it will randomly cause the idle to act up, as if it were unplugged, from time to time unless it is cleaned out.
