i have a 90 crx si, ZC swap and i usually never have start problems, it always started right away, now it seems to take a couple tries to get it to start and one morning it took more then 10 cranks and then it finally started.
it does seem that if i have been running the car and get out and go in the house then come back out that it starts right away again, seems if its over night then the morning its hard to start, and i know that sounds like main relay but i just got new main relay 3 yrs ago so it should'nt be that.
the battery is brand new just got it last month, spark plugs are NGK brand new just last month put in, the alternator i got at autozone around 2002 or 2003 i think and its a mitsubishi brand rebuilt i believe.
recently i did cut my battery cables at the ends and put new clamps on by screwing them onto the ends of the cable, it is the type of clamp that you buy without the wire and you just strip the end of the cable and insert and screw tight.
it seems like my start problem has done this since i put those battery clamps on but i wouldnt know why because they are pretty tight, but its a possibility.
any ideas you have i would appreciate and i will give them a try, thanks

If it sound weak when it's trying to start, I'd be worried about the lines going to the battery.

the answer to your question..................., no i did not do cap, rotor or wires
i probably need to do that, thanks for pointing it out, the shop said they did cap and rotor, and wires during the swap in 2003, but i was just taking their word for it and they might of not done it at all.
since its a dohc ZC unfortunately i don't know how many miles are on it, i think i had the swap around 2003, and supposedly they have around 30,000-40,000 approximately on them but could be more........... lets just guess and say that i have somewhere over 70,000 miles on it (approx.) now. if i have over 70,000 miles on it what maintenance stuff should i make sure is done?
i adjusted valves already but should again, i put new fuel filter, main relay pretty new, battery new, what else should i check? i think 02 sensor is real old, i have had the car since 1998 and i have never put one in, lol, so it must be old unless a mechanic ever put one in but i am not aware of one being put in.
i will put cap and rotor and maybe wires but the wires look pretty normal and good condition, is it still necessary to replace those?
as far as grounds they are pretty tight.
how long would you say alternators last ? like one bought at autozone if its a rebuilt unit? how many years would you say good for?
thnx
