clutch cable stretching
hey guys has anyone else had a problem with their clutch cables stretching while using stronger clutches with the hasport hydro to cable conversion?? I recently replaced my crx one because it stretched and now the replacement one a 90-93 integra cable is starting to stretch also causing my clutch to not disengage at high RMPs (racing). I am pretty sure its the cable stretching that is causing the clutch to stick and not disengage at high RPMS. The clutch i am using is an action clutch 6 puck unsprung. Please anyone that has had this problem and found a way to solve it please let me know I'm not sure if the problem has anything to do with the hasport conversion because when the cables are new it feels and drives great.
hmmm....if i remember correctly you should "loosen" the big plastic adjustment nut in order for the clutch to engage/disengage at a higher point in the pedal's travel range.
it's either that, or the complete opposite

So weird, I just dealt with this same issue except it was loosening causing my clutch not to engage, causing me to pretty much JAM the gears in.
Here's a couple of things you can do:
1) buy an autozone cable (I'm told they have an actual metal nut as opposed to the bullshit plastic one)
2) tighten the nut all the way (highest possible pedal engagement)
3) I can't find the picture right now but someone mentioned tying a piece of wire, fishing reel line I guess: Here's what google turned up: get a bit of old brake or clutch cable about 6 ~8 in long( ... Get some tie wire and wire all your spokes together where they cross each other. ...
I believe its an old racing trick. I just did this today except I did it with some bandage tape. I did it above the nut that way it prevents the nut from slipping/loosening off.

From someone that went through a similar problem not but 2 months ago, CHECK YOUR CLUTCH PEDAL. it might still move but if its broken or not operating on the correct axis it will not fully disengage the clutch. i hunted after so many 'it could be' problems to find out thats what it was. GL.

hey dude, i just went through that ****.
make sure that :
1. your clutch pedal isnt bending and about to fail (happens with those clutches)
2. your clutch arm could be bent on the transmission (my problem)
good luck

That definitely sounds like your pedal, when it swings on the right axis it should be near the top, when it gets out of whack it'll be closer to the bottom. Mine was doing the same to me for a few weeks.
As far as going with a less aggresive clutch, IMO its not the weight of the clutch release the damages the cable, its the fact that the hydro trans' were exactly that, hydraulically released. Using a cable to do it places WAY too much stress on the cable. I really like the new innovate remote mounted master cylinder. It'll do the trick I believe.
