Default am i running lean? (pics inside to show)

unfortunately i dont have a a/f gauge hooked up yet, but after the car was tuned with the turbo (crome software on p28 ecu for h22 prelude) i decided to check my plugs and realized they seem a little white more like beige, but the valves look white also, well heres images, you guys be the judge for yourselves and tell me what you guys think

Plug looks lean, especially if you're saying it's more white than tan. Any particles on there?

Throw a wideband on there and find out for sure.

Go back to the shop because that car is running too lean.

They should touch it up for free i would imagine.

Wow! That is really lean! Hopefully everything is ok internally! Did they advance the timing any during the tuning?

well basically what they said was, it runs a little lean for fuel economy but when full throttle and boosting itll go rich, so im gonna try a full throttle run and see if the plugs go black

get a better pic of the plug. I dont see how you are suppose to see anything with that flash going off on the plug. To get an accurate read on the fuel look for the fuel ring deep inside the plug at the bottom of the porcelain....or better yet just get a wideband

Only way to get a good reading on the plug is to do a full throttle run in say 3rd gear and the second you let off turn the car off... this will avoid it going back to idle, and show the nature of the plug in full boost.

at idle, if the car is tuned for fuel economy... say around 15:1 a/f, the plugs will look white, which is not a problem. u need to do a pass in 3rd or 4th and shut the car down at the top of the rpm. then check the plugs

correct me if im wrong...but isnt the more lean the car is running on a turbo car the more dangerous is? what im asking is...if it is running that lean...which it looks to be, why hasnt something gave up internally ?

ill probably do what you guys said then, do a pass in 3rd or 4th then turn off the car......is this safe by shutting the car off at the top of the rpm?

im guessing my motor is able to take some minor beating since its built, but i just dont want a damaged motor with the money spent if you get my drift

Its safe to turn it off....a few tuners do it to check the plugs.

You can run leaner at idle and under part throttle...under boost, it should be richer. So he might just be running lean at part throttle and at idle and running at a good AFR under boost.....lets hope

its not the safest thing for your turbo, but doing that is better than frying your engine.

Ya, it isnt good to do consistantly to your turbo being that you arnt letting it cool down from such a serious load, but if you want to find out whats going on then its the only way.
