Default Plastic tip on fuel injectors!

I just pulled my injectors and 3 out of the 4 plastic tips are cracked. Does this matter? I am sure its there for a reason. Anyone know why the plastic is there? Can i continue to use the injectors like this? It would suck if I had to replace them. Honda is not popular here in Italy

I just asked the same thing recently because I bought some from a guy and got them with two tips cracked. Most people said they should be fine, I still haven't gotten around to installing them to be sure though. I'm sure somebody will chime in here.

yes it shoiuld be ok as long as it doesnt effect the flow or the spray of the nozzle...just be careful because that is there to protect the tip

What about if the platic tip is not on there? Would that matter? I did some more searching last night and found out the plastic tip on the injector is to help protect the nozzle from heat. I found this on another forum. I don't know if its reliable or not.

the plastic piece is only to portect the nozzle, so without it, your nozzle should be fine if the plastic piece is gone, unless the nozzle was hit due to the plastic already being gone. basically if you didnt hit the nozzle it should be fine just remember that it is more open to damage.

The only thing that plastic tip is on there for is to protect the nozzle. Its to save you if you drop one. lol...which I did. You can check out my build thread I took some pictures where I droped one of my injectors. It cracked the little plastic thing.. I just broke it off and put it back in. Works just fine.

Well, if the Harmonator says it is true, it must be true, as he is from the future.
