Hi, Just bought a 93 Civic Hatch W/ B16.
I got a few questions. I just bought a 93 civic Hatch. It has a B16A motor installed, Hondata S200, AEM fuel rail, DC Sports Long tube header, Apexi exaust, MSD ignition, 6 puck clutch, short throw shifter, Carbon fiber hood, ICW 15in wheels Perfect interor minus the missing back seat, And I don't know what all else.
I paid $2000 cash for it. With 134,000 miles. And about 20,000 since the B16's been installed.
Well first I need to raise the car back up, its has some kind of lowering springs installed, and it has a terrible ride! What are some good and affordable shock/spring combos? Also the clutch is barely streetable, it only has about 1/2in of travel between on and off. Is that normal for a clutch like mine?
Also the car has a pretty bad miss fire. It only happens on occasion and usually during 1/2 to 3/4 throttle. Its also a little hard to start, it sputters and such during crakning. But after its running, everything it fine.
I hate sounding dumb, but I have never owned a Honda, and there is such a huge aftermarket for this car, I get overwhelmed doing research. Does anyone want to give me some advice regarding this car, I really like it a lot. I just need to do a few things to get it the way I like it.

Wow, you got a really good price!
The 6-puck clutch is a huge overkill for a lightly modded B16. Did it used to be turbo? You would be find with an OEM replacement clutch for your setup.
For the springs, what brand spring and shocks are on there now. Do you want to keep it low, but just get a better ride?
I run Tokico Illumina's with H&R sport springs. It is a pretty modest drop and a good ride quality.

Sounds like you got a steal.
For suspension, Tokico or KYB shocks with a good progressive rate spring such as H&R,Eibach or Skunk2. Fr your clutch a organic stage 1 exdy or act will be fine for road use,, puck clutche s are execllent for race but road is killer.
Check inlinefour.com or passwordjdm, they have good packages.

I don't know much about the history of the car. It looks like generic lowering springs and stock shocks.
I want it to be a 1 or 2 inches higher, and a more compliant ride.

damn with those mods and you said clean interior....looks like no major dents...other than the car being yellow...great pick up bro
As for your suspension problem, i would throw on some h&r sport springs/tein s-techs/eibach springs and pair them with kyb agx. That should run about $400 or so...maybe a little bit more depending the deals that you find. If you want height adj. then pick up the ground control coilovers bro. I have them GC's with kyb agx and the ride is great.
Clutch wise, i would go with the oem clutch or a OE clutch from exedy or act. pick between the three.

I made a good score today.
It started when I was changing the distributer cap, I bumped the ignition module and broke off one of the wire terminals...so off to the parts store to get a new one.
I met a guy there who said he had a spare at his house.
I bought that and a set of stock coil springs for $50.
Until I save up a bit of money(I just shelled out $2000 for the car) I'm just going to be rocking the stock springs.

koni/gc is your best bet. you'll only have to buy it once. and if you ever decide to upgrade your handling, it'll already be there by the turn of a **** or stiffer springs.

Let me think.......NO!
I really love the car. Its my first honda, and I think that it does the whole honda Idea justice!
Its got very strong acceleration, its fun, and gets great fuel mileage. I just measured 32.4mpg, not bad for a modified car.

It has developed a miss fire. Only after its warmed up. Its very random, it usually only does it in first or second gear. I did a lot of resarch and it seems that lots of people have the same problem. I'm going to change the plugs and wires. Then upgrade the ground wires from the batteries and engine block.
Yellow FTMFW!! Damn I love that color... my favorite since I was a little boy hahaha. Go get yourself a Meguires claybar kit, Meguires 3 stage wax (cleaner/glaze/polish) and some other detailing products and make that car shine. Awesome steal.

buy the new ground wires at auto zone, they have a really think steal braided one for the batter post and a smaller one for the block to chasis. they work awesome and look good. cheap too.
nice come up on the hatch.

I put Stock springs back on it today. That was probably the most awful thing in the world do to! Everything I did turned out to be harder than usual. I also replaced all the old rubber bushings with polyurethane ones.
Like three of the suspension mounting bolts snapped off when I loosened them!
I also discovered that the previous owner cut the stock coils (5coils cut off in the front, and 4coils in the rear) No wonder it rode like ***.
I'll get some motor shots tomorrow. Its a bit dirty, but I'm sure that no one will laugh
