Default USDM Front bumper w/ Password lip?

Ok so I bought this Password JDM front lip and I am wanting to put it on my USDM front bumper. password JDM e-mailed me an HT thread that was suppose to tell me how to make it work on my 91 front bumper. They said to trim 1/4 inch off each side where it rolls into the lower grill and it would fit just fine. I have done this and it still is not fitting? I was looking at some pics from the griffith park Ef meet and alot of the EF's there had this lip on their cars and it looked good. My car is undergoing some changes at the bodyshop right now so Im kind of in a hurry to find somethig out.
Your imput would be a great help. Thx in advance.

trim the parts down that go into the bumper were fog lights usually go. You should see how it rubs.

Or maybe you got a lip for a hatch on a crx or a crx lip for a hatch?

No its for a hatch. I think Im going to cut off the part that goes into the lower grill of the bumber. That might fix it?
