Ok me and my friend switch out my tail lights and we tested them see if it worked as it should, everything is great so far. NOW.... my blinkers function as break lights when i hit the breaks. but still function as blinkers when the blinker is on. but when i hit the breaks they shut off and function like break lights ALONG with my break lights lol.. anyone know?

 

some of wires are not at the right place. Check the wires and make sure they go in the proper whole leading to the proper bulb.

You didn't get altezzas did you?

 

plug the bulbs back in the right hole. jesus christ.

 

Maybe you didnt read. i did test to check if all the lights functioned properly. THEY DID. and no i didnt get altezzas i got stock ones to replace the old warn out ones for a while.

 

the bulbs on the lights came preinstalled and all i had to do was unscrew. mount, screw, plug the harnesses in. thats it.

 

then you must of plugged the harness in wrong. Its not like there are that many possibilities here. you didnt mess with the wiring did you?

didnt mess with the wiring one bit. it worked fine up to a couple of days ago. could a fuse be out?

 

Well plugging the harness is wrong doesnt explain why the blinker signals on the dash light up, ill get a video of it on youtube here soon

sounds like your electrical knowledge is on the same level as your spelling.

 

Well, i actually know little electrical. ill admit im not the smartest, but i do know wiring is NOT the problem here, ive came to the conclusion that it might be the combo switch, Also tell me this. If the wiring is fucked up? then why where they working correctly before?

 

the outer tail light is supose to blink too when pressing the break..switch the two around...

 

see the thing is. only one is able to function at one time. there can't be a short. it never did this till a couple of days after i put the new lights in. even before i could break, and have the tail lights on, AND BTW. i tried using the old tail lights. same **** happens. in the video u can see that the blinker signals on the dash come on as i pump the breaks.

 

Bulbs that function as running lights/brakes or running lights/blinker have 2 seperate filaments (circuits) inside them, IE two little lead nubs at the end. Your blinker and break circuits should not be interconnected. Use an ohm meter to determine if the pre-wired lights somehow combine the circuits; there should be infinite resistance (no connection) between the hot wire of the blinker and hot wire of the brake light when disconnected from the car.

 

Okay i know you said that you don't have a ton of electrical experiance, but you need to trace your wiring for your turn signal circuit while the brakes are depressed. It sounds like you have a cross short to power causing your blinkers to come on when you press on the brakes. I just had this problem at work it was on a toyota tundra but still the same problem. Thats my advice hope it helps.

 

ima try that today, going to be a pain in the ***, About the combo switch, Could something be going bad in it? my neighbor that owns a shop said 90% of the time those go bad.

 

Easiest... switch back to your old setup and see if the problem goes away.

My guess;
This isn't a switched bulb thing, if it were the blinkers would be on low filament when the park lights are on and they would get brighter when the brake is pressed.

It looks like the brake and blinker wires on the taillight harness are switched. Must be an aftermarket tail light set.

which car is this? I can tell you which wire colors are what on the chassis harness side. Then you can switch the locations on the tail light harness to work the way it should.

make sure that the black wire is grounded. If it isn't it could cause something strange like this.

right turn - green/yellow
left turn - green/red
tail light - red/black
brake light - green/white

NOTE: your brake lights and park lights do not run though the combination switch so there is no way it can cause this.

lol i know that.... i went to honda and they said something with my headlights maybe the problem?

 

sounds like a grounding problem to me.
probe the ground wire at the tail lamp(wire to the new harness) with a test light(yes the ground), and see what happens.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. Yes it could be inside the switch, however im not sure if that is a comon problem. like i said this happened last week at work on a tundra. On trucks and suv's this problem usually happens in the trailer light harness. Since we are dealing with a honda here i hope you don't have a trailer light harness. so i would thy and look at your wiring where the blinker and brake light wires are ran and inspect them to see if there is anywhere they are getting pinched or are starting to get worn due to vibrations rubbing against something. And now that i think about it longer, i don't know how the wires would cross in the switch but i guess im not for sure that it cant happen. if you have anymore questions or thought post or send me a pm i will try and help. oh and the thing about it being a ground if it were shorting to ground you would blow a fuse. This problem is for sure a cross short to power somewhere.
