E stands for Economy. It's a VX motor, 100 hp(or 92?), 40 mpg.

The D16z6 vtec makes 125 hp(92-95 ex, si) and the D16Y8 vtec makes 127 hp(96-2000).

If it says VTEC-E, it's neither of those.

If it says VTEC-E on the cover, it is not the D15B with 130hp. You're looking at a 92hp CX motor that is very good at gas saving, and really bad at stock power.

Congrats.

yeah man, look on your block and see what the engine code is, might have to wipe it off, depending on the grease, but it will deff. tell you.

A real D15B came from a 92-95 Civic si from Japan or Europe.

Vtec-E is found in 92-95 VX and 96-00 HX (IIRC).

VTEC-E is slow, makes no power, has a TB the size of a quarter, 5 wire O2 and runs of 2 valves until vtec lol.

It's awesome if you want 40-50+MPG, nothing more tho.

IT sounds like you are confused as to what engine you have.

Interesting...can you take a picture of the casting marks on the head?

My friend just picke dup a 95 VX hatch and I love the car, not for performance but for the MPG, first tank on our drive home beating on it and all 41mpg, gave it a basic tune up plugs wires yada yada, last ank he got 48mpg beating and also hauling amotor in the back of it for over an hour long trip

D15z1 is the block casting and vtec-e on the valve cover...the head casting can tell you the year of the motor...there is a chance someone there a Vtec-E VC on the motor...Oh yea, the vtec-e also has a roller rocker valve train, pop of the valve cover and take some pictures it will be a dead give away

You fail hard.

The D15B is NOT the ******* same as a D16Z6.

Do you notice the difference in engine code? Or the difference in stroke?

that is correct - the JDM Civic equivalent to the D16Z6 is the D16A - in the Integra, it was SOHC ZC VTEC
