Default Short Throw Shifter

Hello everyone!

I'm thinking about picking one of these bad boys up. It seems as though it is a fairly simple task that will be quite beneficial.
I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations. I think I may buy a cheap eBay one first, just to make sure I like the feel.
So any suggestions will be taken into consideration...eBay ones, or more expensive.

Thanks in advance guys.

bad idea, spend your money on something worthwhile, in hondas you do not need a shorter shifter. higher % of misshifts.IMO. especially in racing situations. just a thought hope this info helps.

I have an ebay one, many people complain about them snapping easy, mine hasn't snapped yet and I've had it for around a year. It was a big difference to me how much the throws changed. I say its worth $20.

I had a B&M for a bit. Worked as advertised, very short throw. Rattled like crazy though, even with the bushing kit. I got rid of it for an FLP and I couldn't be happier.

get one off from ebay. I got mine for a buy price of $10. shipping comes to $20. you might be lucky enough to get a winning bid for lower than $10. brand usually doesn't matter when you're only looking for shorter throws.

All right. Thanks everyone for the input. I think I'm just going to go ahead and get one and see how it goes.

One more quick question. After doing some research it seems like some people are saying it wears out the clutch quicker than with a normal shifter.

Any info on this?

that's like saying guns kill people.

push in clutch

shift gears

let out clutch

It’s the syncros that I would be worried about, but if your slamming the gears even with a stock shifter you can do damage.

Probably because "some people" can't shift properly and burn up the clutch. It's not the fault of the shifter arm, it's the driver.

So shift right & you'll be fine.

Your back will love you for it

I have an ebay short shifter. Its a great shifter that I've been using for 3 years. Only problem that I have with it is that it sits too low. I have to do the gangsta lean just to shift.

Shifters don't kill or cause miss shifting, people do.

I have the B&M (straight) in my CRX and it sits like it should be in 3rd gear. I think it's alright. I have the Skunk2 dual bend + shift **** in my '00 Si and it shifts much better. Also the $7 for the energy suspension shift bushings is the best upgrade you'll do to your car.

It doesn't matter though really. Skunk2 FTW. OEM FTW. and B&M

I bought an eGay one, but havent thrown it on yet. This thread gives me some insight, thanks.
Although unexperienced, I can't imagine that a $160 brand name shifter and a $15 eBay would make much of a difference... It's only a stick of metal.

Yes that is the one they are talking about. Its the double bend. Very much like the skunk2 everyone is talking about.

Ok, along time ago I used to have a APC short shifter(single bend). I liked it ok but it didnt feel much different to me then stock. I would say that is going to be the same feeling you are going to get from a ebay one. You get what you pay for.

Now I myself am buying the skunk2 also. I love there double bend shifter and **** combo. Looks great and I can only imagine how it feels. You can find it for 130 on ebay and I think its worth the investment.

Either way good luck with the shifter and post some pics of your car and the shifter you choose. Good luck.
