Fit to Fit Sports conversion
Hi i'm wondering in thise period of time is it possible to convert an based Fit to look like and Fit Sports. I know their Engine specs are the same(literally). Altho i could buy an sports version but i don't want to wait for the next two months before it comes it. Please list the parts i would need for this conversion, especially the muffler, is it just an tip, or is it an whole different catback? thanks in advance
It is possible for the MT, but the amount of money to upgrade a base to a sport will be a bit more than just buying a sport.
There are several Dealers in MA that have Sports in stock. ( I was calling around last weekend ). Check around, it will be well worth it to just buy the sport.

I'm guessing its the same exhaust...
The exterior differences would be:
Standard fogs
Front lip
Rear lip
Side skirts
Rear spoiler
Brushed aluminum style Fit emblem
15" Alloys
Honda does offer an optional exhaust tip and an axle back exhaust.
If I missed anything just add it.
Buying a base and "converting" to a Sport would be a very silly idea.

It would be well worth the wait, my man. It's all warrantied if you buy it from Honda, guaranteed to match, fit properly, and Honda will sell it to you installed for way cheaper than you could possibly do it yourself. Just buy a Sport. The resale value will likely hold better, as well.

Take it from me, wait and get the Sport.
I had a base model for 9 months. Dont' get me wrong, I loved it. But, Just this past week I traded it in on a Sport and now I'm all set. I wanted the aero package mostly, but, everything the Sport offers makes it worth the small price increase.

I meaning was if you buy the Fit Sport, the equipment is covered by warranty. If you buy a base, then install a kit, it is not under warranty. If the paint chips on the skirt you had painted, tough luck.

For parts that i saw on http://www.1sthondaparts.com the front and rear lid spoiler for the Sports version will b a direct bolt on for my base version? is that correct? any thing that goes on the Sports will b a direct bolt on, or is it that i will have to drill some holes? thanks

Youll have to drill holes in the base for any of the exterior body mods, and most of the interior ones too. The only thing that will directly bolt on are replacement parts for stuff you already have, like the stereo, exhaust, rims and.... well, thats about it. You'll have to drill holes for the body kit, cruise control, power locks/keyless entry, etc. Honestly if you want to upgrade anything its worth it to just go straight for the sport. The wait isnt that terrible compared to the money/time saved.
There are some kits like the one made by Kenstyle that uses a lot of existing holes to fit. Some hardware is even included. But its still cheaper to go the Sport route...to me the interior differences justify the price increase.
Just wait for the Fit Sport. You will most likely pay more to "convert" a base to a sport, than you would by just buying the damn sport. Even if it's 2 months...that's not that long, I was told I would have to wait 3 months if I were to buy one. Just makes more sense to wait.
