today a bubble/ crease popped up in the paint on the rocker panel that moves around and the paint has popped off next to the bubble. the car has been to the dealer 10 times since new for all kinds of crap, it's about 2 mos or so old and has 5k miles...you can see if you look through all my threads in this forum the issues i've had and i simply cant' take it anymore (and shouldn't have to)
the broker said he'll eat the car, take it back and get me another. i think i'm going to go with a blue one because this thing is cursed in silver...
argh.

here's a list-
-gouged shift **** from new (replaced after first repair visit to dealership)
-little def vent on pass side of dash had to be replaced (replaced on first visit)
-window clicks/taps constantly when sitting open (been to dealer twice for this so far, no resolution after door channel and regulator have been replaced)
-driver's side door detent and arm assembly broke inside the door and the detent didn't work (two visits, replaced on second visit)
-unexplicable paint spots on the rocker in front of dside rear wheel and on back of bumper, under the clear coat (two visits, areas refinished, during refinish body filler was found underneath rocker panel paint)
-incessant creaking coming from rear suspension (been to dealer twice, fixed as per honda techline's suggestions to dealership)
-bubble and paint peel shows up on side skirt in different area vs. repair

Ouchie.. You should be very grateful the dealer is taking it back. He isn't obligated to by law.. so I'm quite honestly shocked that he's taking a hit like this to help you out. Good dealership

well, turns out they didnt fix the suspension thing afterall (been in twice for that) and they haven't fixed the window (been in twice for that) so if after the third time.....LEMON.
i didn't even bother with the dealer where the car came from, just the broker. He offered before i even got to talking to the dealer.

This stuff happens...sometimes you get a good one with no problems, sometimes you don't. Guy I work with got a new Nissan Altima, nothing but problems with the engine. The dealer dropped a new engine in and gave him a new 100,000 mile warranty on it. Good luck with the new car, hope it's better than the last.

most of those sound intertwined.
you had an arm break in your door and your window tapped, was it the same door/window?
and if they found "filler" in areas and you have paint issues, i think your broker might be getting you great deals since they are "defected" from the start.
Even the suspension issues sound suspect.... alot of cars are damaged during shipment.. this fits all the criteria for one of those.
ESPECIALLY when the broker is your liason with the dealer.

I agree, sounds fishy.

i hear what you are saying, but this broker is legit. he's been doing his thing in the area since the 60's; his family owned the local Chevrolet dealership and then when they sold it, he went out on his own and does this. He's supplied my fiance's family with maybe 20 cars at this point, and most of them high-line. It's not that he gives the best deals necessarily, but he makes it hassle free and when things like this pop up, he takes care of it. We've personally gotten 4 cars from him, 2 GTI's, the EP and this Si.
this is OT, but check this out-
my fiance got a new 03 GTI from him at the end of '02 and then in the summer of '03, saw that someone was selling a 337 GTI, which is very rare. The broker bought the car, sold it to her, and took back the '03 GTI. Then, when she wanted to get out of the 337, instead of trading it in, she wanted to sell it for cash. I found a buyer who came down and financed through my broker's bank. Whalah, she was out of that car just like that...
now, who i don't trust is the dealer...and the car came from ANOTHER honda dealer before the one where my dealer sourced it, so you have two dealers possibly in cahoots trying to unload that unit....
the detent sticking/breaking was indeed in the same door as the window that tapped, but the passenger side did it too, it's just that it was not as big of a deal since my fiance sits there and doesn't have the window down all the time like i do in the driver's seat, AND more importantly they wanted to see if their attempts fixed the first window before doing both windows...

I don't understand what exactly this guy is.
He is not a car salesman or a loan guy at a bank?
Where does he get his cars? A dealer? Why don't you as the consumer just buy it from the dealer?
Really feeling retarded on this one.

the suspention is crap in the SI so ive heard. They are good performance wise, but there built like crap.
I could also see an armrest breaking with a 300+lb dude putting his weight on it
Do U pay the broker to find a car for u. these SI's arnt that hard to find. i got one in 2 days and 2 hrs of my time.

anavrin351 has convinced me to swap out my entire Si suspension and upgrade it to DX.

its not that..............obviously. there is a thread in here about people having suspension issues. a tech told one guy the QUALITY of them is poor. it handles great until they start to make a clunk sound. i dont have the problem, but the tech thinks there will be a recall on them, but what does he no

the most tenured tech at my local dealership said the same thing...i guess they just see what happens with these things and know the patterns...
slightly off-topic, but to answer the question-
the broker basically sources cars from wherever; he gets a kick back from the bank he uses (northfork) and probably gets some sort of incentive from the assorted dealers since he's almost like a contracted outside sales person, as he seems to use the same dealers for whatever marques he sources for people....lexus comes from one dealer, honda always comes from another dealer, etc...and he doesn't always use the closest dealer either lol
Here are the cars that have been sourced from him in the past 4.5 years by my fiances's family and me-
her brother-
02 325
03 h2
03 boxster
04 h2
04 m3 convertible
05 tl
05 h2
05/06 range rover
06 is350
her parents-
03 grand cherokee
04 rx330
05 accord
us-
03 gti
02 337 gti
04 si
07 si

these are not leases either...he just makes it work because after he takes the car in on the trade, he either sells on his lot in Ocean City, or he places at whatever dealer when the call comes in. so you buy the car with an extended term, weighing out the interest of course, run the car until you want to update, and then he makes it work. In the end, you do not pay a premium for this, and when things like this come up (issues with the first 07 si), you can just get out of it because he values the business. the prices are about as aggressive as you'd see from the dealership if you dug in a little bit, but without the digging. he just gives you the price, you do all the work in his little air conditioned unit, and you are out of there. it's very simple and pain free. another thing to add is he doesn't have really that much overhead- his family has owned that plot where his lot is for decades, he owns the little unit, he only has a handful of people working for him, most part-time, so it works out well for him and you because you are not paying his bills.
it's crazy, in the surrounding areas, you see little harry klause decals on every other vehicle...

thanks y0
so i got the car, its gorgeous...put the comptech shift adapter in that i took out of the old one, glad to be out of the other car. i went to the dealer to pick up the car from their lot and i noticed that every civic there had atleast one paint defect. this new one even has one, its a little spec of dirt under the clear near the gas cap. most of them were similar types of flaws.
wtf is honda doing with thier cars now! at any rate, im very pleased to be out of that silver heap ; )
