I forgot to tell you, prolly cause i was drunk when i was working on your car , but you should first unplug the harness from the vss and look in the plug on both the vss and the harness plug. Often what happens is when people swap these cars radiator fluid spills into the plug or condensation gets in there when its unplugged from the engine. The pins rust out in about a month, ruining both the vss and the harness plug. Very common problem(happened to me).
