Default 86-89 integ head on a sohc d-series block

My friend just put a fist gen dohc integ head on a sohc block. Dont know how it will flow, but the ports are much larger than a stock sohc si head. He plans on turboing it. I'll see if i can post some pics.

I hear that doing it is an ordeal. pic's are nice but directions on how to do it without going crazy would be even more greatly appreciated. My understanding is that it is not an easy swap.

So after all that hard work, all he has is a ZC.

had this swap done over a year ago....and I remember a post like this in which I responded and all I got was falmes!!! I think you probably remember that Rioninja.
Anyways... Its really alot of machine work.. and not worth the hassle. Now that motor is running on its last leg... but heh.... we put it together with junk and leftover parts from various swaps...so that motor was practically free. And free labor since we did it ourselfs.

No, not even that. The teg motors will only pump out about 118 hp (88-89teg) stock, ZC stock is at least 130 hp. However, this setup will give you a significantly lowered compression ratio - If you're only putting on the head... MAYBE better for a turbo than a ZC?

what kind of machine work was involved? Everything dropped right on, all the bolt holes lined up and everything. The only problem he has right now is he needs to find the right length timing belt, which shouldnt be that hard a problem at all really.

remember this is gonna get turbod. The ports on the head and intake runners are huge compared to stock si ones, so that -should- help some. He's mainly just messing around with junkyard parts for fun, so please no "just buy a ZC" posts.

i'll try to get some pics of what he has mocked up so far.

lol i'd like to see too.... definately frankenstein... you should have him find a turbo and manifold from something in the yard too lots of stuff you can walk out w/ if they let you look around by yourselves.
