Default 88 crx suspension

I emailed KYB to ask them what would work on my car(88 crx si) and this is what they said...

We only offer the front AGX for your vehicle not the rear I listed the
part numbers below, these numbers also fit the 1989-91 CRX.

AGX
Right front 741008
Left front 741009

so what can i do about the rear?

can i get aftermarket lower control arms or any kind of oem arms to make it possible to get rear agx shocks to fit right?

i dont even know if thats the part that needs to be changed...can anyone help me out?

Just change the lower control arm in the rear then you will be able to go with kyb.

is it worth it to keep the rear passive steering or should i go with 89-91 rear lower control arms and 89-91 fork style shocks?
the only LCA's i have found that are made for the 88 crx are the function 7's and they are exepensive.

anyone know anyone else who makes 88/box style LCA's?

If you want to keep use KYBs I will trade 89 LCAs for your 88 Arms. I am going with Koni Race shocks. PM me if interested.

Ask if they have ITR rear shocks, they are the same according to Bilstein.

Wow, I wonder why KYB is that lazy not to make one for that style LCA?

Oh well, either convert your rear LCAs to the 89-91 style, or go with a different manufacturer.

The "passive steering" you're talking about is a myth. The steering response difference between the 88 CRX/Civic and the 89-91 Civic/CRX is due to the rear toe link on the leading end of the main trailing arm. The toe adjustment slot on the 88 Civic/CRX chassis is about 1" higher than the later models, and the rear toe changes during suspension travel is quite difference because of this. You feel this as a slightly more responsive rear end on the 88 Civic/CRX compared to the rest.

Our arms cost more than our competitors because of the way we engineer and manufacture them. Instead of using weaker pre-forged blanks, every Function7 arm is machined out of a solid billet block of certified airframe grade 7075 aluminum (7075 is about 20% stronger than 6061). This allows us to make our arms as strong and as light as possible, AND as safe as possible. ALL Function7 products come with a lifetime warranty on all its components (including the bushings).

The 88 CRX/Civic/98-01 Integra Type-R arms that we manufacture are made the same way, but each 7075 aluminum block starts out at about twice the size. In addition, the complexity of the 88 Civic/CRX arm requires additional operations and advanced 3D contour machining, which adds up to more work for us. The total machine time is about 2.5 x that of the regular "fork style" arms and all these factors add up to the cost.

Function7 Engineering products are the result of countless hours of R&D resources. Over the years, product features pioneered by Function7 have only recently started appearing in our competitors product lines. Because our competitors do not spend as much as we do in R&D, and instead choose to "borrow" design ideas from our product lines, they are able to offer slightly lower prices while maintaining a larger profit margin.

I hope this answers some of your questions.

-A

I was looking for info to quote on that. Since it is here I will quote it so maybe more will see and understand.

Also F7 arms are the best. I would either run stock or F7. The other units are not really worth upgrading to.

If you want to run KYB's, you want the 98-91 LCAs.
