changing cabin air filter for a 2005 Honda Oddysey
how the heck is one supposed to remove the in cabin a/c filter for a 2005 honda oddysey minivan?
I take the glove box out and then I can some way pull the filter cover off but the crossbeam of the dash blocks the opening of the filter housing hole. Bad design on honda's part since these things should be end user servicable.
Can someone please give me some specific instructions on how to remove the darned thing.
Thanks

I don't understand what you're talking about. Those things are just about as easy as they come. Sure they're not as easy as the Accords and Civics, but they're right up there. Just undo the two clips on the side and release the plunger to drop the glove box and then pull cabin filter cover off. There seems to be a two wire harnesses that run on both sides of the cover that can sometimes get in the way of removing the filter cover. Other than that, it's not big deal so quit complaining about a good design. If you want a bad design, try replacing one of those in the older Accords, Pilots, and Odysseys.
Unless the Canadian 05 Odyssey is the same as the 04 US Odyssey. Then you'll need to cut off the plastic beam and remove the metal bracket behind it.

yes you are correct that it is easy! I did not realize that I had to cut away the plastic dash reinforcement bar. I found it a bit strange that they would not remove that from factory. I thought that perhaps maybe I had to remove the dash or something but after searching the net for a little while I came across a great article with pictures and realized that the metal crossbeam could be unbolted like every honda I've worked on.
thanks!
thanks!
