royal purple synchromax in b16 cable trans also 10w30 question
i head its not ok to use full synthetic oil in your trans, but what about RP synchromax? Its the only "synchro" somthing MTF I can find, so I am wanting to try it. Would it be ok, as it has "synthetic, proprietary Synerlec additive technology"? Also is 10w30 ok for short term use, I plan on giving the car a little abuse with it in to see if its leaking, then change to RP if its not.
Also what one is the fill hole in the pic?

its the gold on that is right next to wher e axle meets the tranny. I believe its a 17mm
so, its not either one of the ones Id take out with a 3/8 ratchet or allen wrench? anything about the RP synchromax??
the gm synchro-mesh is the best i have ever used. no idea about the other stuff though sorry. also just pull the speed sensor up on top of the tranny its a lot easier to fill that way

I used that in my grinding ys1 for about 2 years. It helped a little. The lsd didnt wear out or anything. I eventually broke the blocking ring from 2 to 3 gear And shaved part of 3rd gear off . besides that nothing else looked worn in the trans. I had 20k miles of turbo b beating on it.
the fill hole is that gold colored plug your 3/8th ratchet head fits into. mine didnt look like that though it was a 17mm bolt head

no, It's the 17mm just to the left of where the axle goes into the tranny in your pic.
Just go to your local GM dealership and get syncromesh, a lil expensive, but good ****.

don't know about the royal purple but the gm syncromesh greatly reduced my third gear grind from grinding every time to only grinding at high rpm shifts

Might have to try that...

Make sure that it is nothing close to gear oil or you will have a burned up transmission in no time
....We recommend OEM fluid only
If you have a grinding issue...fix it the right way...fluid might mask the problem but, its still there.

So only the Honda Gear oil? I was wondering about the RP also, but I know there is some type of additive that Honda uses in there fluid.
The RP stuff is not to hid anything but to help with the amount of friction. I don't think you are supposed to use 10/30w. It should be a even 30w or 40w MT oil. Witch I always thought it was called gear oil.

I am sure you guys know transmissions WAY better than I.
But I only use Pennzoil Synchromesh in my car........
Why do you only reccomend Honda MTF?

I run Redline MTL and love the buttery smooth shifts and no grinds. Perfect, "click" into gear and feels like abrand new tranny. If you can find that I would recomend it, unless u are dead set on royal purple. I dont want to help start a "what fluid" thread inside of yours, but you said u are in germany, so I didnt know what you had available and if you were picking lubes based on price and/or availability. Hope you understand my babbling

I ran Honda MTF for one track day on my rebuilt tranny. I drained it out and replaced with RP 10W30 engine oil. I should be going to another track day in May. I'll let you folks know how it works out.
try not to use the words "gear-oil" or "gear-lube" too much... Gear lube is very heavy viscosity, 75w90 alot of times. What goes in Honda transmissions is MTF. Motor oil is only supposed to be used in "emergencies" and for short term use.
we don't want a bunch of noobs turning their trannys into boat anchors
