Default Adding an in-dash GPS unit to Honda Fit

Hello! We have 2007 Fit Base and would like to install an in-dash GPS unit into it.

It appears, the existing Honda's radio/CD-player has to go...

* Will a standard dual-DIN GPS unit, like Eclipse AVN5500 (or 7700?) fit its space?

* Can somebody share their experiences installing a GPS system into their Fit?

* Can somebody recommend a shop to perform the installation in Boston area?

Thanks a lot in advance! Yours,

-mi

It is probably going to be another month before the Scoche kits to hit the market.

The last word was that the first few will be avaiible the end of this month... but I wouldn't count on that. They have hit a couple production delays already.

Scosche claims to be another month from production of the kit. Metra is shipping their Fit kits now. I believe there's a 2 or 3 week backorder currently.

Call metra @ 800.221.0932 and tell them you need to order the 99-7872 for the Honda Fit. It runs about $70 right now.

Any Best Buy can sell and install the indash GPS that you want after you get that dash kit.

They CAN install it, but no one here is going to want them to. I'd never trust BB's monkeys.

This is why suggesting a shop is not necessarily a smart thing to do. Most shops have their share of monkeys and their share of pros. I've worked in shops where I'd never tell anyone to get something worked on by any of my colleagues. I've also worked in shops where I felt like the weak link in the chain, despite the fact that I think I'm pretty good at what I used to do...

This is why I generally suggest an individual, (eg... Go and see Joe at Fluffy's Autosound, he's really good.)
