Default Question about CRX/Civic engines.

Hello,
I plan to change my car with another one that suits me better, and I fell for the Honda CRX.

So now I plan to buy one, but of cause I'm a poor student I study Law and it costs like hell. It will pay-off one day but until I must drive an old car but with style

I searched the listings on a cheap CRX with good body and good engine. But all the listings lack one of those 3 requirements. Either the body or engine are bad, or the price doesn't suit me.

So I figured maybe: I can buy the cheapest CRX there is, and buy a new or approx. new engine.

My question is: Can I buy some kind of Civic engine(possibly from a crashed new Civic), and put it on the CRX. Are Civic engines compatible/replaceable with the CRX engines? I believe they should be but I wanted to ask some experts to be sure.

Also I welcome any comments!

This is probably the best place to start. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/1508680 You can use any D-series in a CRX from any Civic. However some may require a little wiring and some things to be change such as distributor, ECU, etc. The D-series is probably the easiest drop in engine.
