Default D Series EF BUILD of efkrew91hatch*...check out the thread and pictures

So on March 31st i decided it was time for some work....i have a d16z6 in my 91 ef...

i bought the car 6 months ago with a d16z6 in it with a rodknock....

-acouple pics the day i bought it-

-cleaned it up the next day-

the rodknock d16z6 was pulled out and sold...i got my hands on another d16z6 complete swap with about 70,000 miles on it but with a obd0 crx distributor but still worked...i then got it torn apart got the block rehoned with new piston rings and seals...got it back together and got it back in the car...running with some problems....Check engine light for TDC and #1 02...i left it alone for a lil while

the first upgrade purchased a S2 manifold and a set of dc headers and downpipe...

the second was to get the CEL's gone...i purchased a obd1 distributor, the obd1 conversion harness and a p28...i took the car up to TSR performance and got the wiring done...picked up the car with no CEL's and running perfect...

THE BAD: on the way home i was getting into and tried shifting into 4th well it had a grind....i took it out of 4th and tried again...the grind got worse...well soon enough 4th was gone and 3rd has a grind...i kept driving the car and 5th ended up gettin a grind as well...i found out the SI trans i purchased was a mix of a d16y8 and d16a6 and d16z6 trans's and put together like ****...

i purchased a 91 crx si d16a6 trans...got it looked at...got the problems fixed(thanks to trans-works in baltimore MD) for a good price...

that leads me up to March 31st....

the start:

first thing was all the necessary parts taken out...radiator harness undone...balljoints and axles out...exhaust disconnected...and it strapped up and pulled out...

next was taking off the trans: when the motor was purchased there was a UNKNOWN clutch in it....when i drove the car before tranny problems the clutch grabbed great, was very very aggressive and was like new...it turned out to be:

a clutchnet dseries 4 puck sprung:

WHICH IS FOR SALE...MAKE OFFERS...FITS ALL D SERIES....

so....

i figured since the motor was out..its time for the engine bay to be painted...first grey primered then black

day after primer...

now it was time for the motor to be cleaned up wit engine brite, brush, and a wire brush....

when it was all done....

the next was to put on my purple b&m FPR and KING adjustable cam gear ( got for a free so put it on )....

next was to paint the valve cover and to use some free HEAT wrap i got from a buddy...

next up was to put on my stage 4 Cimpetition clutch and Pressure plate...

heres a pic of my rebuilt trans 91 crx si (left) and my old trans bellhousing (right)...

the engine was finished yesterday..all the black paintwork was done...

tomorow the trans will get put on and the complete motor will get its final clean up....

i should have more pics and info tomorow

please reply or comment with any info, comments or suggestions....

thanks alot

WHy flat black on the engine bay? Is this the new thing hittin or what?
What am I missing here? I like mine the same minty freshness as the rest of the car..

But your car is nice, I like it, don't get me wrong.

The car looks good.

Nice project.

Perconally, I would have just degrerased the bay and may have done some touchups, but I would have def. left it white. The black doesn't look bad at all, the white just looked like it was in OK condition to start with.

Dude your crx looks SWEET! I have a ballade, also EF D-Series. Mine's running a stock 1.6 SOHC and they ahve tough motors, one thing i love about honda! Those high revs just make a person want to put your foot down! I'm getting carried away here. Lol. I actually wanted to know if thos bumper indicators come standard on that specific civic??
