valve cover paint
my vlave cover just recently started to chip its stock black paint and im desciding on repainting it. but i want to origanal wrinkle like honda gets. i know that they get it by putting it in heat or like an oven. but i wanted to repaint it teal or greenish type. and i dont want a gloss or any type of shinyness. i want to get the same wrinkle like honda gets. and i wnat to know what type of paint i should look for. high heat of course. but what else there is another type i need. can anyone help me out on what to look for and where i can get it. thanks
This would be the opportune situation to go ahead and get that aftermarket valve cover you've been eyeing. And don't settle for one of the cheap knock off ones... they leak. Unless of course money doesnt permit, then high heat O'reilly's engine enamal is your friend.

The Krylon paint discussed in that thread also comes in black if you prefer the stock look.

im not asking on how its done but thanks a lot on the link. im not buying a new valve cover cause its pointless i just want a new color to my valve color to match my teal body color. and since the black is already pealing i want to repaint it. so a near by shop should have the paint i need right. all i need is paint thinner, a paint brush to get all spots with paint thinner, paint by krylon i guess and an oven.

i want to find a green wrinkle paint to match my teal color. but i cant find any green wrinkle its more on the lighter green side im looking for. any suggestions where i can get it? and all the vc look great btw. has anyone heard of the stone paint where you spray it and it comes out like stone? well what if i spray that first and than spray my green normal paint by krylon over it. how will that turn out if i cant find a green wrinkle paint.
Don't know if it will work or not, but I painted my VC's with the same paint that I shot my car with. Hasen't messed up yet and still looks like it did the day I painted them. Been about 2 1/2 years now. You can try to put the base/clear over the wrinkle paint. Haven't tried it but don't see why it wouldn't work, other than maybe a reaction between the two. But worth a shot.

You really don't need to use any primer with the wrinkle paint. As long as you prep it good

today i tried something to see how it will look. i didnt strip the old paint off yet so i took a green paint that i want to use and just sprayed a line over the regular black wrinkle. and it came out like it was green wrinkle. so im just gonna buy black wrinkle and spray the green over it so it looks like its actually green wrinkle.
