Default This Is Why You NEVER Order From http://www.hondiscountparts.com

Sorry to say that I was referred to this company from I think Honda-tech members but I can't remember because I float around a few boards. Basically, this is the conversation I had with the company over trying to order new hatch struts for the 'rex. Bad deal, I would never do business with them again. They lied, and seem pretty incompetent. I did finally talk to someone on the phone that seemed to know what they were talking about, but they told me that this is probably the worst part about their company - that they do this to people and he said that he knows that they do it and he was sorry, but couldn't do anything about it. Pretty bad.

BTW, if I "sound" a bit irritated during the chat session it's because I had already been on the phone with customer service and they made me a little upset with their "oh well" attitude and the fact that they weren't willing to give me the lower price.

Chat InformationYou are now chatting with 'Greg'

Greg: Welcome to Live Help! How can I assist you today?

david: greg I'm having some serious trouble with your website and I couldn't
get any help from customer service
david: on the phone that is

Greg: How may I help you ?

david: Well, basically, I JUST placed an order 5:23 pm EST today and I want
to cancel it because your site is ripping me off on the part (the site lists
2 different prices and for the same part and I am being charged the higher
of the 2 prices)

Greg: May I have your Order Number or your Email address used on the Order?

david: ******* and the email is $$#&@*(!@$&$($)$.com

Greg: Please allow me to look into the information for you. Would you mind
holding a moment?

david: no i don't mind

Greg: You only have one Hatch Strut to fit your vehicle

Greg: O2070-58005 ,The one you have ordered will alone fit your vehicle

david: No Greg, what I'm talking about is this:
http://www.hondiscountparts.co...el=13
7&year=1991&category=17&part_name=10516&brand=38 47 I don't appreciate being
overcharged ($71.90) for parts that are only supposed to be costing me less
than $45 WITH shipping charges included.

Greg: Please allow me to look into the information for you. Would you mind
holding a moment?

david: sure, I don't mind holding

Greg: SG326001 , The cheapest one will not fit your vehicle as i said before

david: Then why is it listed as fitting 1991 CRX?
david: The part is even called "CRX trunk strut"

Greg: Wrong update
Greg: My appologies
Greg: The one you had ordered is the correct one to fit your vehicle

david: Greg, are you reading as I type? I realize that the one I ordered
fits my vehicle, my complaint is that you are overcharging me for the part
and I want to cancel the order.

Greg: Sorry order cannot be cancelled

david: Why not?

Greg: Also the one you had ordered is the only one to fit your vehicle
Greg: And we have not overcharged your account
Greg: Also
Greg: The 2 struts are different brands
Greg: And they are not similiar patr#s also

david: Firstly greg, they are the SAME brand:
http://www.hondiscountparts.co...el=13
7&year=1991&category=17&part_name=10516&brand=38 47

and:

http://www2.hondiscountparts.c...sp?ye
ar=1991&make=HO&model=CRX-DX-002&category=O&part=Hatch+Strut&dp=false

they are both made by Stabilus. Plus what you just said doesn't make any sense.
If there is only one part that fits my car, then how could there be 2
different brands that BOTH claim to fit a 1991 honda CRX? Also, you ARE
overcharging me for the part and here's why: The parts I just ordered from
you are $71.90, the part located at

http://www.hondiscountparts.co...el=13
7&year=1991&category=17&part_name=10516&brand=38 47

come to less than $45 with shipping. So basically, you are charging two different prices for the same part. BUT, I'm going to be charged the higher price of the two? Seems like overcharging to me. Basically, what I originally wanted was to just be
charged the lower price, but apparently this cannot be done (according to
the customer service on the phone). So I want to cancel and get my money
back.

Greg: Please refuse the shipment
Greg: We shall refund your account for the refused shipment

david: In the full amount of $71.90?

Greg: Yes

david: ...and how long will this take?

Greg: 3 weeks time

david: Your company is the absolute worst company I have ever dealt
with...ever. I'll be sure to tell all of my car buddies about you and post
this dialog wherever I can.

david: Thanks.

dude as much as i hate to admit it, it IS your fault for ordering it in the first place without shopping around first. just go to autopartswarehouse.com or ebay.com i get ALL my stuff from ebay and never had any bad experiences with any of the products i received.

LOL, it sounds like you were chatting with one of those automated service things. Cause when you said, "this is worst company I've dealt with ever" Greg says "add us to your favorites" LMAO! I dont think any real person would say that after you called them the worst company you have ever dealt with.

if it is anything like most phone customer service departments they have to say things like that at the end of a conversation anyways as part of their job.

To everyone that says it's my fault for paying more for the part than I should have, I guess you're not "getting" the gist of the whole fiasco. It's more than just a "mistake".

First...for whatever reason, the return policy for this company is horrible and unlike any other company I have ever dealt with, and number two, I bought it through the website, not over the phone. It seemed like a good price and the site was recommended to me, so it wasn't like some random google search.

It was only after I bought the strut that I poked around for other products and mistakenly clicked on another link to the strut on the site...and for some reason they list the same part with two different prices. BTW, I did search around the net at a few other places that seemed reputable, the average price for crx struts is about $35 - which is why I was shocked to see new ones selling for $20.

The part that irritated me (and that I was complaining about) was that they were unwilling to charge me the lower price over the phone after the fact and tried to tell me that the cheaper part wouldn't fit my car (even though the model numbers are the same and the manufacturer is the same). Now, most companies would say, "oh we're sorry" and just charge you the lower price. They said "no we can't". I was a little upset at that, but then when I said "ok cancel my order" they told me no, I'd have to fool around with the shipper and have them send the part back. THATs what really got to me.

I fail to see how that could be "my fault".

End of story.

All this could of been avoided by just going down to your local honda dealership and buying it directly.

i bet they try to screw you out of shipping charges so save that information to refer to later

Ive only ordered parts from them that I couldnt get anywhere else cheaper. Well next time you should search around more before dishing out that much $$ for hatch struts. The customer service deff. sounds poor but Its hard to deal with people over the phone.

Well, a learning experience I guess. And yeah...at least I get my money back. I was angry about it when it happened but pretty much over it now. Nothing that can be done except return the stuff and wait for a refund.

I try not to go to a honda dealership unless I have to because every time I do it seems like I am paying a premium for the parts that can probably be bought cheaper somewhere else (for similar quality). Maybe I should just stick to autozone or something? haha. I've never gotten a bum deal from them.

My recommendation is to use http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com or http://www.hondapartsdeals.com. Or you can usually get your dealership to order them at the same price as those websites if you press hard enough.

BTW, not sure if hatch struts fit the CRX, but if they do, I have a good set FS

Reaching for what? I just think it's BS that I couldn't get the cheaper price and they "can't" just fix it over the phone...and then tell me the cheaper part won't fit my car.

If you paid by credit card, can't you call your credit card company and dispute the charges?

Well, I didn't see the cheaper strut/shock until AFTER I confirmed payment. It was one of those "DOH" moments. I guess what really irritated me was the fact that they wouldn't just give me the cheaper price. I mean, it's not like someone held a gun to my head and said I had to pay the price listed. And what really irked me was, like I said the very first time I posted, when they refused to just give me the lower price and instead they're saying that I need to monkey around with the shipper and wait 3 weeks. That's BS...maybe I should call my CC company, because don't they have a time limit on reversals?
