Buying Used shocks?

Default Buying Used shocks?

Im getting some tokico illuminas and the owner claims it only has 3000k miles on the, but how do i check to make sure these are in good shape and will last awhile.

make sure shock is hard to push down...no oil(gas) leaks..

You should be fine after 3k miles. However, it doesnt really go by how many miles. It depends on the setup, and if he went off-roading on them bitches

How much you paying? Dont get ripped off. Even if used shocks only got 3000 miles on them Id say they arent worth half what new ones would be.

New Illuminas are about 400ish.

Unless these shocks are $50 I would seriously just save up for brand new ones w/ warranty, before you go thru the trouble of installation and then blow on you.

well im only getting the fronts. since my front right gab blew out. and the only place i found that would rebuild them is japan. and i saw some illuminas only front 2 shocks for sale for 120$. i thought it was a good deal, i havent bought it yet still deciding. what yall think bout that price though 120$. cause i havent driven my car since. and i need to get around.

If you want to replace the front, you may as well match the rear as well. That ride would be very ackward if not...

so would you go with tokico, kyb, or koni if i were to buy new shocks? they all cost in the price range of 400 for all 4.

you can't go wrong with Koni yellows. bang for the buck and they have lifetime warranty from what i hear.

how low can you go before its too much for them to handle? probaly getting ground control and plan to set it all the way to the bottom. or any other coilovers all the way to the bottom. will konis blow?
