depending on the hood, some companys are ~15lbs but VIS, Seibon, or (insert Chinese manufacture here) weigh like 35~.....look for vacuum infused parts for weight reduction

I've picked a stock 6G coupe trunk up before and it probably weighs between 20-30 lbs.

Between the two, even 25-30 lbs isn't significant, but it does make a little difference, plus some people like the look. IMHO, I would rather paint to match the color of the car.

The same weight savings can be had by taking out the back seats, albeit that is free

Only thing is the rigidity will be compromised. If you are careful, it shouldn't matter, but stuff happens while driving.

just make sure your careful on the edges and RUN pins you cant run a 5lb shell of a hood without pins, do the same with the carbon trunk, remove the seats and scrape the sound deading and just keep going

I'm not talking about the actual grinding process, but when driving/showing the car (not in a show-car sense even). Leaning on it wrong or shutting it too hard can cause damage to it if treated incorrectly. But then again I guess anything can.

I'll be running a carbon hood, trunk, and possibly doors on my car. But its more of a race-car/weekend car.
