1994 Honda civic ex 2 door 5 speed...stock

I'm fairly new to working on cars, and my engine is filthy so i wanted to clean it up a bit, but i was wondering...on the degreaser can it says to rinse very well with water, ok and what i was wondering is, would it hurt my engine to just break the hose out and spray it down when im finished?

It'll be fine. My friend does it while it's running. Let it cool first and if you have a CAI, wait for it to dry a bit.
