Default REAR BRAKES CONVERSION TROUBLE (CIVIC)

Yo there

i have converted my civic dx with disc's all round from a 96 civic vti. the problem is the rear disc's are braking too hard...

Wot is the problem here??? do i need the master cyclinder or servo from the civic vti to balance them out properly

Did you replace the proportioning valve? Though I don't think this would cause this problem. I've still got my stock valve on mine and is stops fine w/ 4 wheel disc.

What exactly is happening?

well like the other guy said, you have to change the porportioner valve if you change from drums to discs, the master cylinder is optional.

there's a huge brake swap faq on the top of the board, you guys really should read it.

u deff need to change the prop valve because drums use more pressure than discs. if ur rear discs break too hard is cuz the more pressure the prop valve is trowin.

I ran rear discs for over a year with the stock prop valve and never had a problem.

well...it depends on what year your car is.
i have a 98 hatch and im throwing my rear disc on, but i know for a fact that the 96-00 hatchbacks came with the same prop. valve as the 99-00 Si so i will not have to change mine.
im not sure about the coupes and 4 doors, but im almost certain that for a 92-95 you gotta change to a 99-00 si prop. valve. good luck with your brakes...

i agree with beav it depends what year and model ur car is.....if it comes with the same valve as de SI then obviously u dun need to change it......you will hav to check what kind of valve u have......but thats the only thing i can think why u havin that problem...
