Default OBD1 Throttle Bodies compared to OBD2 Throttle Bodies.

noob question but i wanted to use my extra b16 throttle body but i found out that the FITV is different on my obd1 gsr or my obd1 ls throttle body.

the fast idle thermo valve is located on the bottom of the throttle body on obd1 and not sure where the obd2 ones are?....here some pics to show you

obd1 gsr throttle body

obd2 gsr throttle body

obd2 b16 throttle body

is it like built in or something?

The fast thermo valve is needed to help in cold starts, if you live in cold climates. But you can use OBD2 throttle body. I use one on my OBD1 B16 motor with no problem.

The obd1 throttle bodies have a removable FIT valve and the obd2 thottle bodies have the FIT valve made into it as one whole unit.

If the FIT goes out on a obd2 thottle body it sucks because you have to buy the whole thottle body, which is not cheap.

when i swapped my blox im on, i had a huge mess with the throttle cable and hte tb pulley so i just used a ls throttle body and its idleing all weird (up and down), didnt do it with the gsr one. i had this b16 around so just wondering, might get another gsr tb and just swap over the pulley.

The FITV IS the detachable bottom section on your OBD1 B16 throttle body.

There is no FITV on both the obd2 GSR & B16 throttle body. There is only a coolant passage built into the throttle body. Look at the bottom interior sections of both TBs. There are air passages on the OBD1 for the FITV. On the OBD2 there are no openings because there is no FITV. The coolant passage only purpose is to warm the TB.
