How do i fix my timing
i put the head back on my d15b7 and forgot to mark the timing belt and what not how can i fix it if i didnt mark where it went plz plz help cuz when i push the gas it pops and me and my friends think its the timing so please help
hopefully you didnt bend any valves...
also sounds like you dont know what youre doing at all
set the crank to tdc (theres a mark on the belt cover, oil pump, pulley, or you can just set something down the cylinder and figure it out)
set the cam to tdc (cam gear says UP for a reason)
loosen the tensioner
wrap belt
turn crank about 1 tooth
tighten tensioner
rotate crank 2-3 teeth
loosen and retighten tensioner
rotate few more teeth
loosen and retighten tensioner to tq spec
should be good...unless you cruched your valves by having the belt skip

nah we knew what we were doin but we just took apart the head cuz we more gonna put a D16Z6 head on it but we couldnt find one at the moment so we just did the head gasket change for now..but thanx for the help
Isnt there a marker or arrow on the cam gear that should be matching up to something ? i cant say for sure, i havent done this alone, but im pretty sure theres some sort of marking on the Cam gear that you line up with soemthing on the Timing belt assembly.

Why you bumping it? He told you how to do it already.

you do not mark the belt
you set the engine (cam and crank) to tdc

i agree lol

on mine (D16y8), if you take off the belt cover and look at the cam gear, there are two sides marked with a line and a third side that says "up," the two marks need to be level with the engine block with the valve cover removed and of course the "up" facing up... = P that should set your first piston at tdc, i just did some engine work last week and had to go through this... as far as the bent valves go, if that's the case then good luck with that.

i think the proper way to tension the belt is to install the belt in time, then release tensioner to pre-tension belt, then tighten tensioner, rotate the CRANK 2 revolutions to properly seat the belt in the grove and stop a tdc, then loosen tensioner bolt 90 degrees, then rotate counter-clockwise untill CAMGEAR moves 3 teeth(you'll feel the engine get slightly harder to turn) at that point tighten the tensioner to proper spec, and you're done

yeah that is the correct way to do it. Marking the belt is the lazy not right to do it. Its just as easy to do it the right way. Just takes a whole 10 mins more.

sometimes people will mark the belt and gears instead of setting them at TDC.
if you line the marks back up, it should be in time.
i set mine at TDC AND mark the belts, this way its a double check for correct mechanical timing.
if my TDC marks are right, and my belt marks match up, then my timing is correct
