Default CEL Steady light only

Hi, I have a problem with my check engine light, it lights intermittently and usually it lights after going fast. upon turning off the engine and turning it on again, the cel does not light. I followed a step by step procedure to diagnose the codes, but when I do it, the light is only steady and does not give me the blink I need to diagnose. my car is a Honda civic ESi 95. (ph16/d16z6)

Mine did this once... I just left the car on so the cel wouldnt disappear and checked it with it running.

No, when you get the cel, and you get home check the code, leave the car on meaning keep the engine running and check the code.

quick question, why in this article that the engine is suppose to be off?

4) WITH THE CAR OFF, insert either a 2pin connector clip, or loop a thin enough piece of wire into both holes on the connector.

Damn are you hard headed or something? Yes its supposed to be off, but if the cel goes off every time you turn the car off then theres not really any other way to get the cel code unless you just wait till one day it stays on all the time. My car would throw a cel when driving, but when I turned the car off it disappeared, so the next time it came on I just checked the code while it was running... got the code and then fixed it.

did you ever think that the cel went off because the car had no power when the key is not in the on position. you are suppose to turn the car off, jump the ecu, turn ignition but not the crank the engine.

Yes. One of the threads I found after searching for VSS. If you ever have a question it can usually be found with searching, select archived content and search several different things like if you're looking on how to fix a vss search vss, code 17, fixing vss, fixing coe 17 untill you find your answer.
