Just recently only when i start my car cold and when im starting in first gear. I hear this like rattling almost, i cant exactly explain the sound its like metal bouncing around. Its not very loud but i can hear it every time. its coming from my engine. What coudl this sound be? anyone else experience it. 95k miles btw. 98 GSR


Please help I want to make sure it is not major.

 

I had something like this before, turned out to be my heatshield with loose bolts. Have you checked?

 

hey that sounds like it could be it. I will definetely check that out. did your noise only come when you first drove the car.

If you are talking about the timing belt than......

no i checked the timing belt like 3 months ago and all the grooves in it were still rigid. previous owner stated he changed timing belt at 65k miles. it looks like it has been changed, and a mechanic says it looked OK. I think it might be the heat shield, but it only does it really when you first start driving it like first few feet.

 

any more ideas??

 

go over your whole exhaust system front to back, something is loose, maybe your pipe came off a hanger, mine does that, and thats the issues with custom pipes and bad weld spots.
