confused about my '95 Accord Coupe iES
this is properly a stupid ? but I can't seem to figure out if I have vtec or not, I have a F22B5 engine and it kindof behaves like a vtec, but there is no indications what so ever ( valve cover ) that it is a vtec, the thing is that during accel. I can feel the engine shifting it's way of working and sound, and during decel. at around 3-2.5k rpm there is like a bump in the engine as if it was shifting back from vtec engagement. I anyone can help me with some clues I would be more than happy.
The F22B5 is the European brother of the USDM-JDM F22B2,6,8. It is a non-VTEC 16v SOHC. What you are feeling is the camshaft configuration or changes in the Power Band. My F22B2 does the exact same thing.
ok, so is that a bad thing or neutral thing? I'm guessing that it's a bad thing cause at ~4500rpm I seem to be loosing engine power to an extend that you actually feel it but it only happens at ~160kmh, needless to say that if I wait long enough the car will go beyond 220 on the clock, so what ever happens is by my point of view not a seemingly good thing.
