Recommendations for lowering my car?
OK, here's the deal, I'm looking to lower my car, but I know nothing about cars compared to all you guys. Here are the specifics.
1. I have a 2000 GS-R.
2. I'm looking to lower it probably 1.75" but I'm NOT sure, I'd have to see it first.
3. Since I'm not too sure exactly how much I want to lower it, I'm thinkin about coilovers so I can adjust if necessary (and for winter).
4. I still want decent ride quality; I realize quality will diminish somewhat with anything other than stock, but I still care about the quality.
5. I'm not rich, but I'm not poor. Money is definitely a factor.
I cant stress this enough, PLEASE DONT GO INTO VERY TECHNICAL TALK. If you discuss things in detail, you will lose me 100% cause as I said, I'm not a car whiz by any mean.
So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated -- springs, coilovers, whatever.

you might want to look through the suspension forum and take a look: https://honda-tech.com/zeroforum/54
As for your question, it seems like you have it figured out and you know what you want...which is good. Depending on what your price range is like will determine what people will recommend. From personal experience, if you want to just lower your car and not spend much, go with the ground control coilovers. I'd recommend h&r/neuspeed/eibach sport springs, but since you don't know how low you want to go, coilovers are the way to go. You'll still get good ride quality and you'll be able to adjust your ride height to whatever you like. If you want more stability, handling, dampening, etc with those coilovers, I'd recommend going with the koni yellows or the tokico illumina's shocks. If you don't want to put a combination together, then your next option is to go with a full body coilover system such as omni, k-sport, tein, etc. From there, it gets a little more technical.
So whats our price budget lookin like?

I dont have a defined budget really. All my buddies that have their suspension done paid around $800-$1000 so i was just assuming that it'd be in the price range, but i dont know if i need that much. My buddy has the Tokico Illumina R's and he said to go with those, so thats an option.

I just got a integra and i still didn't do any suspension work but my brother had one and all he had for suspension was skunk2 coils on stock shocks and some swap bars and his car handled pretty well IMO. I know some people will not agree with me but just talking from what i experienced

go to the HT sponsor forum for suspension and wheels stuff. They have some nice full threaded coilovers. I would go with one of those so you can adjust your ride when ever you need to. You might want it low on regular street tires but if you are running slicks at the track and need to raise it what easier way is there?
And they range from 600-700 save yourself some money

The reason I'm posting here is cause I dont know which coilovers to go with, I'm hoping to get specific recommendations as opposed to "go here and look for coilovers"... if i go look aimlessly, i probably wont be able to narrow it down.

I bought a set of used tein ha's with type r lca's....paid $650. The ride is fully adjustable and the dampening is 21 way adjustable. Car rides however I want it at whatever height..... its risky buying used suspension sometimes though. Keep checking the classifieds on here. You'll find people selling their suspension set ups all the time, or like some one had mentioned, you can go to the sponsors forum and see what type of specials are going on
D2 full coilovers FTW! they go for aroung $800 AND they look nice to lol theres a discount for h-t members i saw it in the suspension forum about a month ago...im sure its still there because there was no set date...

if you go with this route, take advantage of their custom spring rates.
but all in all just go out and get a quality set of springs or coil overs and a matching set of shocks. one advantage of one piece coil overs is that it's a one stop shop type of thing. or you can do what i did and go get a set of ground controls, drive around with those until you get money or the stock shocks blow out and get some adjustable shocks.
other than that remember you get what you paid for. good luck

KSport are $600 from drflickner here on the forums, very good in my opinion. 32 adjustable dampening and custom spring rates, i don't think you can beat that anywhere.
Had them since late january and they're great.

seen numerous reports on here of KSports blowing out after right at a year of use.
I've had Koni Sport shocks for over 5 years and 150,000 miles and they still work great. I've had H&R Sport springs, Ground Control coilovers with custom rates, and stock and ITR springs on them, never any problems.
To the OP, you will sacrifice some ride quality when you lower the car a decent amount, there's no way around it. The springs have to be stiff enough to keep the car off the bump stops, which makes the ride harsher than stock. I would stay away from most of these full adjustable-length coilovers for under $1000, their quality is questionable at best.
Really, you cannot go wrong with Koni Sports and Ground Control coilovers. That can be had brand new for about $750 from a couple of dealers here on H-T. Call up Ground Control or PM CRX Lee and they can help you decide what spring rates to use (custom rates do not cost extra). If you don't plan on slamming the car, you may just want to get the standard GC rates for Integras, with the Koni-specific GC sleeves. I don't know what the rates are exactly, but don't go over 400 lb/in as the ride starts to get really harsh above that.

i think a good spring/shock combo would suit you fine. you can get eibach sportline springs and kyb agx shocks for under $450. this will lower you, give you better handling, offer you shock adjustability, and also give you a decent ride due to the low spring rates.
im running ots ground control coilovers and tokico illumina shocks and the ride is really bumpy.

He's right. I know there are many options out there but I suggest you save up some real $ for suspension. I'm assuming that even the spring/shock combo is too much for you... (excluding tokico blues/kyb gr-2/monroe etc. On the side note, assuming again that you don't know how to install it yourself (there are numerous thread showing "DIY installs" here and on Ti.net) your gona be running around $600-$800 for suspension + installs. I don't mean that cut/burn springs or eBay coils stuff. Alot of people run sleeves/springs with stock shocks witch I don't support because they will blow out soon due to bottom'n out. I could go on and on about this... but understaning your post and not getting technical I will just leave it like this. Research, research, and more research...
Edit: Coilovers FTW since you want adjustibility... reconmendations..? Tein Basics... $700.
