i have a b20/vtec, and it mkaes a knock noise only at certian rpms, normally at 3000-4500 rpms, could it be rod knock?? or could it be coming from the valves??, it doesnt do it at idle either..

valves don't knock...they tick
more then likely you got a spun bearing = rod knock.

Listen to the engine while somebody is reving it for you. Try to hear the engine by the oil pan/bottom of the block and that will give you an idea where the knock is comming from.

 

ok, but rod knock doesnt not happen at idle right? At a stand still it sounds normal. but yea it does sound like its coming from the bottom portion of the motor. Am i putting the motor at a danger if i drive it like this?

rod knock can happen at any RPM
-dont drive the car anymore as your just doing more and more damage
