Default manual steering rack... bearing needs grease?

anyone ever have this problem of leaving the car standing for a week or two and then have the steering rack squeaking? i dont know if this is the issue but its what ive found in searches. some people say its a bearing and sme say its a bushing that needs to be greased.
can anyone verify which it is and the complexity of the job?

i cant hear the noise from the outside of the car, but from the inside, its clearly heard when turning the wheel about half a turn in either direction.
i have no power steering.

steering rack itself is nto serviceable. besides, there is a ton of grease on it. since you hear it ont he inside only, my guess is it is squeaking in the column or coupler joint. check those first.

well, i just stuck my head under the steering wheel and removed the plastic shield to see the metal parts. but when i turn the wheel, it still seems like the sound is coming from past the firewall

This is bullshit.....You can take out the entire rack and rebuild it...You can buy a kit from advanced for 75 bux..It is not "packed" with grease either. There is a little to help with the smoothness. Probably the rack end bushing. Start here http://www.hondaautomotivepart...R+BOX

wtf is your problem? why so hostile? i never said you can't rebuild it. it is not serviceable, as in you do not need to grease it routinely. anyway, the i doubt the squeak is coming from the internal gearset. before telling him to rebuild his rack, he should narrow down the problem.

Do you have a p/n for this rebuild kit? I called both advanced and autozone and neither have a rebuild kit and only have a seal kit. Is this the kit that you are referring too? Is this all that can be serviced inside the rack?
