Default tranny swap. worth it?

about to have saved at the $5000 mark, and was wondering if it's worth putting 1500+ for parts and about $800 for labor to do a tranny swap on a 15 year old car. I DO love the prelude, and have always loved it, but is doing this a wise idea?

Where are you getting the work done? $800 for labor is steep! Pm me if you want me to help you find a cheaper option.

If you are looking at doing an auto to manual on a 4th gen, which I assume you are, you would love it! Butttt I bet you can get a better price than that! or learn more about your car and do it yourself at least!

That price seems about right. Remember, you always get what you pay for.

cheapest way would be to buy pieces as you come across them. I swapped my 5th gen prelude to an H23 5spd about 2 years ago and absolutely love it.

I talked to Kevin, one of the owners of MB Racing the other day and he quoted me $500 for labor, but that was on an Integra I was thinking about getting. Pm me so I can try to work something out for you. I've spent money with them b4 so they know me .

i just want something fun to drive - not planning on decking out, just want a nice, reliable, fast car that i can keep for a while.

I've always dreamed of tuning a honda since i became interested in cars about 6 years ago...i got a really good deal on this prelude and couldnt say no. Right now i'm trying to learn as much as possible, however with my current situation i have really no1 to learn from and dont have the time or money to take courses - even though cars really are my passion.
