buying 2000 gsr - owner says suspension needs work?
Hi, im looking at a 2000 gsr with 56k miles on it. The owner wants 7.5k for it, but says the starter doesnt work and the suspension was dropped so the ride sucks pretty much. I wanted to mainly ask a couple of questions about suspension in general for the gsrs in specific. I want to spend under 500 to get a decent suspension on it (1-1.5 inch drop from stock but still street drivable). Thanks for all the info. And also, where can i get a 2000 starter (i would prolly just order it off advanceautoparts). Thanks again!
ps. when buying this gsr is there anything specific i should look for when i look over the car?

I woulnd't buy a car that doesn't start, tell the seller to replace the starter and get it running first. There may be other things wrong with it that the seller is trying to hide.

yeah, i wasnt going to buy it until i got it started with the starter that i would get. I figured if he is going to let me fix it before i give him the cash its ok, but i think i should ask him to fix it first.

a starter isnt a very expensive part to jsut fix..to sell the car easier and have it run..seems like he is hiding some more stuff..just check the car out before u buy it

you could even pop start it ..if the starters bad.
it will start right up.and u could at least see it run.

If someone is advertising a car that doesn't start I would pass on it also he probably didn't take good cafre of it if he let the suspension go look around for mabe 500 to 1000 more you'll find a car that someone really cared about and acutually fixed things
Who would sell a car that dosen't start...? unless they are really broke. Fishy, yes? I would let him/her fix it up then take it to your mechanic to check it out. Suspension might be messed up already... as blown shocks or running on cut springs? Tempting but look at the price... if you would to fix it yourself you would alreay be at 8/9g.
You dont need to replace the starter to get it running, just push start it. If it has been sitting a while it will likely need all new brake components as well.
i wouldn't completely write this car off because it doesn't start? does the guy who's selling it have a bunch of other cars? it may just be that he doesn't want to expletive with it because he doesn't need to fix it. if you're mechanically competent, have him buy a starter and put it in with him. if it fixes the problem, give him the cash he wanted and the cost of the starter because it's not very expensive. if the starter's the only thing wrong with the car and you can for sure get it fixed, you have a pretty good deal on your hands
