wtf...helicopter noise?
i was driving home today..and it sounded like i was being followed by a helicopter. its a loud banging noise...like the one a helicopter would make. what the hell is it? it makes the noise when i go over 50, or slow down from like 60 or 70...and when i brake.
Could be a wheel bearing. Try and locate the wheel where the sound is coming from and jack up the car on that side and see how easy/difficult it is to rotate the wheel compared to the others and listen for a rough grinding noise.
My buddy's GSR is doing this now and I told him to mask the sound by putting baseball cards in the spokes. That **** was hott back in the day of BMX'ing.

id say wheel bearing too...
jack up each wheel seperatly, and place ur hands @ 12 oclock and 6 oclock on the tire and do a push/pull motion, if its loose at all, replace it. not that expensive for a rear, but fronts need to be presses in and out...

how many miles do you have

I used to have a 626 and it had a bad hub in the rear...the bearings were all jacked and everything. I rode like that for a little while and it made the wheel sit a bit off, so I had to replace the hub, rotor, and brake pads since it wore the pad down uneven and gouged the rotor. So you will want to get it fixed soon - but will it do anything tomorrow? Probably not.
this'll sound dumb but also check n make shure you're lug nuts are tight. cause it'll make that same fucked up noise if they're loose at all... I know this the hard way... sum dickface loosened my lugnuts while I was at skool last year.
i think i know what u mean about ur car.... mines just started doing that too.... it drives a little rough now... but when i turn the sound stops, but jus going forward sounds like a choppers on my *** in a high speed chase... you guys say the wheel bearing.. I'll check that on mine 2.

yeah man its funny...cause i checked the lug nuts right before i went to school. turns out one of the lug nuts was completely off on the front left wheel, and the other three on the same wheel were all loose. only if you posted a day before...hahaha thanks anyways though man.

There is a real easy way to check for a bad wheel bearing. Drive the car on a straight road between 40-60mph, turn the steering wheel back and forth so the car goes from one side on the lane to the other. If you hear the sound get louder when you are turning one direction, and get quieter or go away when turning the other, you have a bad bearing. The bad bearing will be opposite of the direction of the turn. I.e. If it gets louder when turning left, the right bearing is bad. Good luck.
